Greeting Back Yarders,
Well you cannot blame the blahh skies on me this time...I only gave away a telescope to an old friend, I did not buy one!
I see that the Sky Clock portends Clear Skies for Sunday-Monday. Should be good; and with a little moon, too. These longer evenings now let us enjoy our contact sports in glorious colour - particularly in the Orion Taurus sector and with the anticipation of the upcoming Geminid showers!
It is also that silly season (other than clouds, rain, fog, sleet, and snow): where should we have our end of Month meeting and possibly End of Year get-together? I brought my little Dob scope with home made mount, and Terry brought his camera to the last meeting; so I guess it's someone else's turn to host "Show & Tell" this Wednesday.

See you all soon, and
keep looking Up,
Cheers!
Mur

Hi gang, out this morning at 4:15...just in my backyard at first....very good
sky...almost as good as yesterday..even in the city. Superb bino view of
M42,etc. Kept warm with cups of java..actually not as cold as
yesterday.....maybe a meteor ~4:45..heading N, but nothing more.
At 5:30 decided to go on my morning hike...heading West, saw 2 streaks through
Orion, one "crossing" the Belt Stars. Started to get foggy close to the river..so
hot-footed home...no further sightings of Leonids. Guess we can expect clouds
for the next few days.
  Keep looking UP! Dan

Hi Terry, good pic results. The ring pic is really sharp ,and the pinwheel
arms are quite distinct...which is excellent resolution with such a short
exposure...well done!

A great morni g to be out scanning the sky for those meteors. Ray & I were out
at Gray's Creek at 4:30...thats A.M. We saw a few "falling stars"...but really
enjoyed the crisp clear skies..Beautiful!!
Ray, that was great....we should plan an evening gathering at the "creek".
Ray we should plan to be out tomorrow morning...more meteors are promised...
   Clear skies! Dan
P.S. Its 6:50 a.m. now

Greetings and Happy Comet Showers to all. !
Was out last night with my "main squeeze", and we saw a few yellow glowing
streamers and a few fast movers too; a couple within minutes of each other -
just lucky to be seeing in the same sort of Southeast to Southern sky but UP!
We did this with visual and bino viewing - got hazzy - frosty after a while.
Its either late Taurids or early Orionids.
Now its still gorgeous out there, so I'll be off viewing soon.
Cheers!
Mur

diet... Clear skies - and keep looking up!

Hi all,
Yesterday about 5:15 while driving into cornwall,as I reached Gray,s Creek area
on Hwy 2, I noticed a strange cloud system low in what was a cloudless western
sky. The "system" consisted of a "puff" of cloud with a long fat streak
extending from it toward the west.
I tried to keep my eyes on it as I travelled along Mtl rd/ water st. just to
the Int'nat'l bridge where I pulled off. The "puff"of cloud had disappeared but
the "fat" steak remained. The colour of the cloud had changed from basically
white ,to rusty orange...probably 'cause of the stting sun.
   Did anyone notice this??
  Today's Spaceweather mentions asteroid blast (bolide?)over california....a
submitted pic by Pepper De la Cruz is very like the "streak" which I saw.. Wadd
ya think??...There may have been more than 1 exploding Taurid meteor.....???
