This open forum has been created for volunteers and those interested in the Bowness Composting Initiative (BCI).

BCI is a voluntary, non-profit composting program set up for Bowness and surrounding area residents, interested in turning coffee, fruits and vegetables into rich compost for their garden, while supporting local businesses and strengthening our community.

Statistics show that it takes a family of four, one year, to produce one full composter. Participants in this program will be able to compost more materials in a shorter time and enhance their gardens with nitrogen rich material at no cost.

By joining this program, you will reduce the amount of compostable materials ending up in our landfills, while at the same time adding rich nutrients into your soil. It's a win-win for the environment and you!

Bowness Composting Initiative welcomes everyone in Bowness and surrounding areas to become volunteers. There are no fees, you may choose how many days per month you would like to pick up and the length of your participation is your decision.

A number of restaurants and cafes in Bowness have committed to collecting their compost material for frequently scheduled pickups and depend on the commitment of our BCI volunteers to maintain the integrity of our initiative.
