Earth Peace Camp is a group who organize an annual peace rally every September 11th in Sir Winston Churchill Square (Edmonton's primary public square) on the common anniversaries of Mahatma Ghandi's non-violent resistance movement, the genocidal fascist Chilean coup against democracy & the controversial Sept. 11th bombings in New York & Washington. Our rally’s themes are peace-building, human rights, justice, truth, environmental protection, education, inspiration, networking, community building & non-violence. We host many speakers from peace groups, community institutions & ethnic organizations, along with entertainers.

We also met to speak out for peace semi-regularly for about a month after the rally individually or in groups, usually during rush “hour” evening traffic, in front of Canada Place on Jasper Avenue near the corner of 97th Street. This is where a 47 day “peace camp” was held by Edmonton activists such as the late Tooker Gomberg (former Edmonton City Counsellor & victim of pharmaceutical misdiagnoses), his widow Angela Bischoff & our dearly departed Mirella Zapone (an Alberta Educator killed in a car accident travelling to Tooker’s memorial service) during the first Gulf War.

Our successful 2006 9/11 rally had an average 250+ attendees, a peak of over 500 & an approximate total of 2500 people attending over a five hour period.
