If you are member of Freecycle Ottawa or a similar local recycling group and don't have transportation of your own, you can ask for help transporting an item if it is not too large and if you are unable to pick it up yourself. Members travelling in that general direction may be able to help by picking up the item on their way and then delivering it to you. It usually takes a few days to complete the transaction. Piggybacks are free.
