Let's have a meeting Thursday April 5, 7 PM at the Wired Monk.
Everyone is welcome, including the lurkers on the list. ;)
Cheers,
Ryan
P.S. If there is a different time that's more convenient for anyone
who would like to come, please let me know. It's no trouble to reschedule.
P.P.S. If you'd like to come to a meeting but don't know what we look
like, let me know. We can post photos somewhere online.
We just talk about whatever people feel like talking about. :)
So far, we've had small enough gatherings that this has worked out
well and we've always had a chance to talk about the things each
person is interested in, so we haven't felt a need to decide on topics
in advance. However, if people would find that useful, we certainly
could set topics for some future meetings (just make suggestions to
the mailing list).
Cheers,
Ryan

Hi all;
Anyone interested in a get-together next week? I suggest Thursday at 7
downstairs at the Wired Monk (corner of Hollis and Morris). It's a
little quieter than Henry House, and they also have beer. Thoughts?
Cheers,
Ryan
I am not sure how many from Quest will be attending.
I will try and make it out on Thursday after my appointments. How long do you
think you will be there?
I guess we're back to the default time/location: Henry
House Pub, 7 pm.

They have an open mike night on Wednesdays, so the
place gets pretty busy. However, we can book the place next time we are
going to have the meeting (unless it's going to be on Wednesday,
because they have open mike night...).
So it's either Henry House or Quest. What's it going to be?
Would it be possible to have the meeting at Quest? I find that "Henry House" can get a bit too loud. Otherwise we could try to meet at "The Wired Monk" - it's a coffeeshop (but they serve alcohol) a few miniutes away from the "Henry House", on the intersection of Morris and Hollis streets.
Anyone opposed to moving the meeting to Wednesday evening?
Let's tentatively say 7 PM at Henry House pub?

Hi all;
Is anyone interested in having our first meeting of 2007 sometime
soon? Dmitri and I will be in Halifax from next weekend to the one
after that. I was thinking Thursday, Feb. 1, either at Henry House
again, or the Quest board room if that's possible.

Sounds good to me, I don't know
where either of those places are but I am sure I can find it. J
I have tentative confirmation to offer up
one of our board rooms as a meeting place for the Agile Halifax group. decent facility
with projector, etc.
Quest's office is located in the
Bank of Montreal building down town.

I was hoping that we could get an auditorium at Dal or SMU; I can look
into this when I'm back in Halifax (help is welcome though :) ).
I
think having a tutorial/hands-on on TDD might be a good first step.
Dave, Ryan and myself are in Halifax next week, perhaps we could have
our first user-group meeting and spend some time on planning this first
session. What does everybody think?
Dave (Morash): Please invite your friends - the more the merrier!
I was going to mention - I think we could probably get
the Dal Computer Science auditorium occasionally - we'd have to
register and all. The problem with that is people have to sign in with
security at the front desk. SMU also has a really nice new commerce
wing with some decent sized classroom/presentation rooms. Depending on
their policy, this might be better.
Hmmm, it's a broad subject. I would certainly be interested in raising
my understanding of all agile practices/thinking, so hands on
sessions/tutorials would be of interest. I'm not concerned with any
particular area, I'm more interested in gaining a better understanding
of these things from people who are actually using them day to day.
Where to start? Probably TDD and applying refactoring/TDD to legacy
code. Perhaps there is value in asking other groups what they have
covered re: practices, tutorials at least as a starting point.
I'd like to meet at least once a month. That gives a bit of time to
read up on areas, prepare presentations etc.
As for where we can have meetings, my workplaces are a no go due to
security restrictions unfortunately. Does anyone have any contacts at
either Dal or SMU, perhaps they have facilities we could use.
I do know of a couple other guys who might be interested in joining this
group and might be able to provide a place for meetings, are we
interested in additional members?

Hey everybody,
I would like to start discussion about Agile Halifax user group and
the direction we want to take it.
What topics are members interested in? Is there any interest in having
hands-on sessions/tutorials (what practices/technologies)?
Where can we have meetings? How often can we have meetings?
Cheers,
