During the spring break I checked my yahoo messages and there was Egu
sitting there for 3 months! I find it handy to make notes after class
and practiced the rhythm with passion, love it for its revelance to
life, the cycle of strength ever apparent in all our lives.
From the Maane Rythm to the home page of the web site one can access some great
basic instruction for the less accomplished of us. I had a ball after
downloading a simple FREE metranome from the web, setting it up to 4/4 time at
60 beats a min and working through some exercises that shift the base note to
different parts of a simple 4 beat rythm. Omni had us doing this stuff ages ago
but, sadly, it really helped me to be led through it again, with the time (and
appropriate space...........) to pracitice. Love ya, happy drumming, BTS.

If I rotate my neck I`m releasing tension and resting my mind. I breath in as I`m visualizing the color red , I`m Looking at the candle light and breathing out red steadly again I breath in a couple more breaths then I change to thinking about the color orange , deep inhale exhale breaths , yellow, green blue through to Indigo this mind stimulant gets me ready to continue into shoulder rotation. The more joint mobility I have from elbows to wrists allow me to reach for the bass beats.
I can now contemplate the rythum with new awaremess . Djembelaine

Hi, that is a fun one, she'll sway from side to side for me. 3D images that come about when you look into those segmented pictures are good for opening up both sides of the brain as well.

a warm and hearty welcome, comingisstorm. We are most glad to have you aboard.
Activity has been slow here for a few weeks, but I notice that some members are
beginning to make contributions, which makes the site a far more interesting
place. You are more than welcome to contribute. Omni

A remark to a collegue about Ego, the grinding down through effaced
suffering has led to a suggested book series` Ringing Cedars 'the

The morning of my birthday began with an argument. My birthday present
was thrown through an open door onto the bed, it was a djembe. The
drum represented a new chapter of my life.
I only had to wait one week for my first lesson from a highly
recommended teacher 'Kerry' by the drum maker Steve at Eumundi Markets.
Five years on... I receive social solidarity in a unique learning
environment at Tinbeerwah Hall with like minded melody enriched people.
My djembe has taught me about me, it talks now, I cherrish her.
Thru this forum I hope to exchange the growing roots of music making
which I simply cannot live without.
Communication is essential members. My game has been off-site recently
but I reenter and will be posting more stuff in the very near
future...BUT I/we are keen to hear from you. Don't be shy, how about a
profile of yourself...or if that ventures too close to the bone...tell
us about a favourite rhythm, or a sublime moment spent with the drum.
Perhaps you know of a website that will expand our world. Please
inform us by clicking "Links" in the blue box. Also for ease of
access, have you "favourited" this sites home page? Does anyone have
any ideas or contacts for performances? Post it here. I await your
input.

The third sangban strike should be a closed stroke.
A warm and hearty welcome to akua-yawa rhythm forum Drummad2. You have
ventured into the drummer's cyber universe. Keep an eye on this space
for stuff about rhythm, about being a drummer, about the drum, links to
websites etc. etc. Also if you haven't already, click the photo section
where you will find photodocumentary posted by our own
Basetoneslap...bless him. Its of our performance at the Body-art
festival late last year. There is one link so far, but I am soon to add
more. Feel free to contribute to this site in any way you feel fit. If
you want to ask questions about rhythms or drums, I or any of the other
members will do our best to answer...(same goes for all of you members
out there!)

I have been contacted by someone who does dance workshops and he wants to have drummers on at least one occasion...so I am to let him know when we are ready? How about it? From what I understand the dance workshop is ongoing and its focus is sorta therapeutic and experiential. The dancers are encouraged to move with the energy of the music...so we could really shake 'em up. Let's hear what you think!!!!

Make Yahoo!7 your homepage and win a trip to the Quiksilver Pro. Find out more.
The links section is open...well there is one link but many more will
be added. This first link is from a kit drummers website. He talks
about the role of pride and ego when making music.

I worded that message badly...I meant that notation is my thing as well
as yours...not my thing exclusively...If you want to post notation
please do...that's what this is about...so go for it. One thing about
the djagbe notation you posted...Use Rich Text Editor (NEW! compose
your message with...see above). Click on that and go to Courier text.
I don't get what the 3 is about...could you post it again and see my
message about that...I think it is the "no subject". Apologies for
leading you up the wrong path...don't wanna tell people what they
cannot do.
Regards Omni

carole likes her drumming raw. she'll get exited in time i'm sure .
sorry for barging in and posting a rhythm like that.
unaware of correct etiquate at time of posting. i ll keep the rest to
myself .keep up good work !
Hi Omni, the courier notation idea works well looks like. I'm more of a
down loader than poster when it comes to notation and it slips into
word well coming down. Many thanks, BTS
A Warm Welcome to akua-yawa rhythm Stef21. You have crossed through
to another zone. Watch this space for more rhythm stuff...and don't
hesitate to post some messages of your own. Great days ahead.
Omni
Some days are for achieving something big...others are for mooching
around the house. I think if I promised myself one achievement day a
week...I'd get way more done in my life...but quality rather than
quantity works for me. Some days become achievement days by
default...no matter how hard I try to avoid it...it just won't let you
ignore it. Finding the drum was kinda like that.
I was sitting in a black-bean forest watching other people do things...a
lump under a tree...not particularly interested in the flurry before me.
People were making little boats out of blackbean pods so they could race
them down the river. Who needs to race, thought I...and then...the
crowd parted...and there sitting under another black bean tree, I espied
it...a djembe...the first one I ever saw. What happened next defines
my life now.
I was immediately transformed...the second I saw that drum a thrill ran
through every one of my sluggish cells, electrifying me completely. I
felt strangely and profoundly as if I had arrived home from a long
journey...all this in an instant. I jumped up and grabbed that
drum...and without asking its owner started playing and didn't let go of
it until I was forced...Oh the noise I must have made that night. Oh
the savage looks I got. But I didn't care. That was the start. I
started taking classes shortly after...djembes were hard to get back
then...my first drum was a skin stretched over one end of a hollow log.
I had to go with what I had...the bass was OK but the rim shots were
tragic.
I have found the djembe to be an instrument of healing, physically and
emotionally...more to do on that...but that's life. SO that's my
story...eager to hear all of yours.
Omni
So this forum is up and running...there are so many place we could take
it. Basetoneslap has added another dimension with photos. I am
learning about this as I go...but watch the links section...I will be
working on that soon. So it isn't a forum unless there is
communication...so members you have plenty to say, questions to ask,
points to discuss, paths to point us along...how about it? Post a
message by clicking "post" in the blue box on the left of the screen.
How about kicking it off with a short profile of yourself...with stuff
that is relevant to the forum...like where was it that you first saw a
drum...stuff like that!
AND ...IsoTony I have a hunch that you may know someone else who could
join. Any chance?
Also...if you havent already done this..."favourite" the group home
page...for instant access.
