Hi Lori -

I'd love to post something but I'm moving tomorrow and they're online
and I don't know how to pay for them yet, and right now I'm packing
like a madman. Been shooting with the model that has a rotating color
flash (blue/red/yellow/without). I'll check in in a few days!

This is to anyone who happens to come along looking to see what's
here. The people who ran this place seem to have moved on but the
place seems to be in good shape, so Ithink I'll hang around a bit.So
if you want to drop by, why not? If they happen to come back, they'll
find the place warm and tidy. PETE.

The way I like to check out this sort of thing is to set up a small
lamp in an otherwise dark room. Leave the camera back open and tape a
piece of kleenex over the film-gate. Now set up your lens
recombobulation and point it at the lamp. If the shutter will stay
open, that's great, otherwise, rest the camera on something and click
away several times, while looking at the image on the kleenex. Should
be sharp, upside down and backwards.

Hi, there, I'm a new member. I don't have a HOLGA, but recently
picked up a very interesting old 21/4 X 31/4 box camera that I would
love to find out more about. It is all tin construction with
leatherette and a cloth viewing hood. The interesting thing is that
it is a Single Lens Reflex. You hold it in the 'landscape'
orientation, and the ground glass is on the top, like a TLR. The
mirror is mounted to a piece of metal that forms one blade of the
shutter. The design will only work for a fixed focal length. The lens
is labled 'Steinbell Munchen Box-Actinar 6,3/10,5cm No274688'. On a
label inside in the usual place, are patent numbers for D.R.P.,
Brit., Franz., Ital., Osterr. and Schweiz., plus 'United States
Patent apl.'. Am I correct in thinking this is a German product from
the fifty's? My Zeiss Ikon was made around 1930, and it doesn't have
that sort of big label inside. Any help would be apreciated.
                                                   Thanx

This might not work but it,but try it any way, hardware stores sell
things that are intended to put in the out side door of a house or
apartment so you can see who's ringing the bell before you let them
in (or call the police)if you mount one of these backwards in the
camera it should produce the sort of image your looking for.Hope this
helps, Robin

Thanks for the advice. I'm still trying to locate a
camera. May have a lead on where to buy them. Just
need to get there to see.

Thanks again

hello,

i live in the states and purchased mine on line. About
20$ u.s.

They are fun cameras, but a little tricky at first.
With all the light leaks, u have to make sure to tape
up the camera in all the seams. I did a lot of reading
on the internet. My pics are decent, but I'm still
experimenting. The best tip I've found so far, is when
u do get the camera, push down the plastic tab on the
back near the film window so that the camera shoots 12
exposures. The result is a larger and nicer image.

happy shooting!

My web page is up and running and I encourage, no
implore you, send me some email. I would love some
feedback and and am free to chat about this interesting
topic. I am eager to learn camera altering techniques
and to see some shots any of you have taken with your
holga, or any other toy type camera.
