Dear Friends in Christ,
To kick-off 2010, we hosted the LIFE TEEN Winter Olympics complete with a
mascot, medals and of course, a slew of olympic events! Events included scooter
hockey, protect your egg athlete, build your own snowman and even a multifaceted
olympic relay! To sandwich everything, we even had opening and closing
ceremonies. It was just what the doctor ordered for the night before we go back
to school and work! Thanks to those who came out and congrats to our gold and
silver medal winners!

It's a tough time of year, eh? I was able to squeeze in one more day-off to take
Joshie ice skating with the daycare this morning but I am still feeling it. It's
a long haul until the next long weekend. Facebook posts were all about post
vacation blues last night. It seems like the longer the time off, the harder it
is to get back into the swing of things.
The leaders will be praying for you as you head back to the normal Monday to
Friday routine. Just take it one step at a time and have things to look forward
to. It's a little bit easier that way. You can't do everything at once and when
you think about too much at once, you'll crash without warning like a
Windows-based operating system :)
Yes, I am sending this from my Mac. Love those Macs...
Make it a great week and God Bless,

I am absolutely loving this time of year. It's a great time to catch-up with
friends and take a break from the weekly Monday to Friday 9-5 (and more)
routine. Take advantage of it by being with family and friends and using the
time also to get caught up with Jesus in the Adoration chapel. Remember that we
are very fortunate to have this chapel. I'm sure many parishioners from
throughout the Lower Mainland envy our chapel. For those of you who live close,
it's paradise.
I feel blessed to have great friends and family who make my life enjoyable and
exciting. The first few days of my week long vacation have been perfect. There
were visits with friends, gym days that aren't 6:00 am early for a change, some
street hockey, family time, sleeping in and carefree days of just doing nothing.
The Core and I will be ready for 2010. It's going to be another exciting year
for LIFE TEEN. We'll be looking for some new Core in the early part of the year
and then will be gearing up for the Knights basketball tournament come February
and that's just the beginning my friends. I can't wait!
Happy New Year, everyone! Make sure you make some resolutions to make things
exciting!
Make it a great week and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
It was nothing but a big huge party on Sunday night as teens and Core partied
like "they just didn't care." The night started off quickly as 12 groups were
given the task of creating (and explaining) a gingerbread house with candy,
icing and gingerbread of course. Duh. The groups then started dinner and played
Christmas-type trivia while they ate. Time seemed to fly as it was time for
desserts before you knew it and then Christmas carols and a nice closing prayer
ending the night off, kick-starting the huge clean-up task. We finished the LIFE
Nite and LIFE Nites for the year by 11 pm.
Special shout-outs go to senior teens Clarissa, Jiggy and Daniel and Core
Leaders Jen, Nicole and Jan as they attended their last LIFE Nite...for now.
On Tuesday night at Real PG we read an article from the LIFE TEEN website on
reasons why we easily break our New Year's resolutions. With these reasons in
mind and the new year just around the corner, we came up with our own personal
resolutions for the year 2010. And together, we brainstormed meaningful ways to
help each other keep our resolutions in the new year.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - NO LIFE!
We'll be taking a one week break from LIFE Nites as we spend time with our
family and friends during this special time of the year. See you at Mass and at
our next LIFE Nite on the 3rd of January!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - NO REAL PG!
We'll be taking a two week break from Real PGs starting with the 22nd. Enjoy

The Christmas spirit is hard to put into words but I felt it last night at the
LIFE TEEN Christmas party. I'll try to explain what I experienced and hopefully
that will give you an idea of what I think it is.
It was at the latter part of the LIFE Nite last night. The lights were dimmed
out, people were getting dessert, others were singing and Core Leaders were
running around making sure everything was going right for the teens. For a few
moments, I had a chance to sit in the corner and chat a bit with Gabby and
Robert. I saw people laughing, people helping each other, a lot of smiles,
caroling throughout and overall just good times of everyone enjoying everyone's
company all under God's house. That's it. That's what it is all about and it's
absolutely priceless.
I consider my role in youth ministry a privilege and it's these moments that
remind me of that. Thank you to the teens and to my talented Core Leaders. Merry
Christmas.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
Teens got a sneak peek at how university works on Sunday night as Dean Pimentel
and Youthmin Man educated us on how we are all called to be saints along with
these tools He's equipped us with. A large part of the night was devoted to
small group discussions and for teen-led presentations showcasing all the
different gifts God has given us to live heroic lives. Specials thanks to all
the teens who came out and gave excellent presentations and to the Core
superheroes for making an appearance!
On Tuesday night, we continued making rosaries from the previous LIFE Nite which
will eventually end up in the hands of homeless people on the downtown eastside.
Thanks for all those who gave their time. An exciting volleyball match followed
afterwards in the gym!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - LIFE TEEN CHRISTMAS PARTY (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
This is our annual LIFE TEEN Christmas Party and wrap-up LIFE Nite for 2009 so
make sure you include this important event in your schedules. There will be
food, games, carolling and much much more! Please bring a dish to share as this
is a potluck event!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - MYSTERY REAL PG (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
You will have to come out to this Real PG to find out exactly what we are doing.
We will guarantee three things though. It will be (1) prayerful, (2) fun, and
(3) interactive! Make sure you get yourself out to the last Real PG of 2009!

Personally, I think the key to prayer is consistency.
I'll be the first to admit that I have some work to do here as well. As with
many things, consistency is what gets results. Consider this scenario: If you
were to exercise for 30 minutes a day for 6 days straight and compare that to
exercising for 3 hours in one single day, the benefits of the 6 day option far
outweighs the one day plan.
There is simply no comparison and the same can probably be said for prayer.
Prayer is prayer and there is no minimum time that should be spent each time you
do it. It's subjective and is different for each person and each scenario.
There are many variables.
The important part is that you do it. So next time, you make the sign of the
cross, don't worry so much about the time you spend praying. Rather, focus on
what you are doing and when you feel like you're done, then you're probably
done.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Hi Everyone,
We are planning on entering a team at this year's Knights of Columbus Coed Youth
Basketball Tournament. Below are some details from the Knights. If you can make
the dates and have an interest in playing, please reply to this email and we
will start formulating the team come late January.
Knights of Columbus Council 6855 - 2nd Annual Coed Youth Basketball Tournament:
Feb. 20, 2010 - Opening Ceremonies and First Games
Feb. 27, 2010 - Second Games
Mar. 6, 2010 - Third Games
Mar. 20, 2010 - Consolation and Championship Games
Same tournament rules as last year will apply - we will limit to 4 teams.
Tentatively, we start at 11:00 AM and finish at 3:00 PM. On Feb. 20, we may have
to start at a later time due to the District and Regional Free Throw
Championship.
Thanks,
Rich
Dear Friends in Christ,
We all learned a bit about how we can do our part to help those less fortunate
than we are. Through small groups, we also learned perhaps that we can do
without many of the luxuries we have in our lives right now. These types of
nights are excellent reminders of the imbalances present in our society right
now and perhaps a little bit of a wake-up call for us to not forget about those
who are worse off than we are. The second part of the night was a true test of
precision and skill as we all took part in making rosaries to be donated to
Agape Street Ministry. Some teens and leaders showed some super speed in making
these (not me)!
On Tuesday night, we packed a scripture study, a chaplet, a rosary and some
Adoration in one single hour. It was fast-paced, efficient...and that's the way
I like it.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - SUPERHERO UNIVERSITY (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
At this exciting LIFE Nite, we'll help you understand that living a life in
Christ is a heroic calling. This night will point out to you all the tools God
gives you to sustain a moral life, live heroically for Christ and to find your
ultimate happiness with God in heaven. You simply cannot afford to miss out!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - R-SQUARED (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
What does R-Squared mean or refer to? We're not telling but what we can tell
you is that we'll be praying the Rosary on this night and will also be making
Rosaries afterwards. "R" you ready? Volleyball will follow afterwards in the
gym.

The funniest thing happened yesterday with Joshie.
So as I was watching Jim Furyk take the title at this year's Chevron World
Challenge 2009 yesterday afternoon, Joshie blurts out (in the middle of playing
with his diggers, I should add), of all things, "Where's Tiger Woods go?" This
caught both Jenn and I by surprise especially amidst all the hoopla surrounding
him. The fact that this was Tiger's tournament just added to it all. We just
didn't know how to answer and just laughed.
As a side note, Joshie helped me mop the kitchen floor yesterday which saved me
5 minutes in cleaning the house. Praise God.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
It can be said that the whole point and purpose of teen ministry is to help them
find, build and solidify their relationship with Jesus Christ. Sunday night went
a long ways towards that goal as we spent significant time singing, meditating
and listening in the presence of the exposed Blessed Sacrament. Some of the most
valuable time may very well have been the silent time in front of the
monstrance. It was truly priceless to have had the opportunity to be with Jesus
without any distrations for those 30 or so minutes. Thank you to all who came
out and for making it happen despite busy schedules etc.
On Tuesday night, we brainstormed some intentions (50!) for our Rosary and then
prayed for them. We definitely went to work on this night!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - ONE HUMAN FAMILY (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
Come out to this latest social justice night where you'll learn about the
dignity of all human life and your role in the global family. Just by coming to
this night, you'll be able to pick-up practical ways to make a difference in the
world starting with our own community. As our "first gesture of goodwill
towards men," we are asking all attendees to bring a canned food item for the
foodbank!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - CLOCKWORK PRAYER (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
Have you ever had an hour to spend in the chapel but just didn't know how to
spend it? If so, come out to this Real PG, where we'll give you some practical
ideas and let you experience how to spend your hour with Jesus. Sports in the
gym will follow!

Today’s closing reflection is by Clayton Imoo, Director of the Youth Ministry
Office (YMO) of the Archdiocese of the Vancouver and proud parishioner of St.
Paul.
“As many of you know, this weekend the YMO held its biggest annual event:
Spirit Day. This year, we held the event over 2 days and had 1,800 grade 7
students and adult leaders participate. Although I’m extremely tired today, I’m
very grateful for the many blessings and graces that have come from the event.
I’d like to share with you just a few of them. But first, please allow me to
take off my YMO-hat and put on my St. Paul-hat. Good…it still fits well.
I am so proud to be a parishioner of St. Paul, as people from our parish
community were involved in every single aspect of the event. Along with the
grade 7 students led by leaders Mike and Cecilia, we had Core leaders, Spirit
leaders, and teens on both the Spirit Team and Stage Team helping to bring the
event to life. There were teens, young adults and parents serving on the
Logistics Team, working tirelessly behind the scenes. Still other parishioners
were involved in areas such as production, hospitality, and directing the YMO
(haha).
It was a joy to see everyone contributing, and to see our parish as a whole
having a significant impact in shaping the event. In doing what you did, you
all had a part in our ultimate goal in youth ministry: to lead young people
closer to Christ.
Thank you to each and every one of you for sharing your gifts and talents with
our young people and for giving so much of yourselves. I’m sure Rich would
agree with me in stating that you are all inspirations to both of us. People
like you and events like Spirit Day are the reasons why we’re in youth ministry.
May God continue to bless you abundantly.”
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
We continued with Part II of the Sexth Commandment LIFE Nite which was all about
chastity and God's plan for sexuality in our lives. Part II didn't disappoint!
We warmed-up everyone with a quick lightning round of Battle of the Sexes and
then quickly went into small groups which gave a chance for everyone to share
and brainstorm questions on the topic of the night. Small groups were
followed-up with a session of questions and answers with a panel consisting of
Father, Kathy Lee-son and yours truly.
The real treat for the night came at the end when teens were challenged to make
a commitment to use their sexuality according to God's plan. As a sign of their
commitment they were invited to light a candle in the church and take and wear a
medal of Mary or St. Joseph as their reminder.
On Tuesday night, we learned about the origins of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy,
then prayed it and then played some volleyball. More fun comes this week. See
below!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - PRAISE AND ADORATION (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
In need of some good praise and worship to brighten up these rainy days? We

worship songs as we spend some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - THE NIFTY FIFTY (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
When was the last time you prayed for 50 things in one night? Whatever your
answer is, we'll be doing it at this Real PG. We'll think of 50 relevant things
we want to pray for and then hit the beads and pray for them. It's simple and
yet effective.

This past week was eventful in terms of weather. There were some good powerful
combinations of wind and rain which made commuting on public transit a
challenge. I remember having my umbrella reversed at one point which I imagine
was not too cool looking. The best feeling every evening was making it back home
and getting into the house.
Anyway, this week let's remember to include a special prayer intention for those
who are homeless and without adequate shelter. I can only imagine how tough it
is for them when I find walking home from the bus stop in the rain an
inconvenience.
I am itching to give out another USB drive so this week is easy! Give a shout
out/reply to this email and your name gets entered into a draw at the next LIFE
Nite on Sunday! Now that's easy!
Make it a great week and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
As you may have been able to guess from the title of the LIFE Nite, Sunday night
was all about God's plan for sexuality in our lives. It was a fast-paced LIFE
Nite with a Battle of the Sexes challenge to kick things off and then a teaching
with some cool video clips to bring it to life. We concluded the night with a
guys/girls question period where guys and girls were able to ask each other
questions about the other sex. That seemed to be a popular segment of the night
and might just make a short return come next Sunday when we air part II. See
below for more details!
On Tuesday night, we showcased our arts and crafts skills by creating our own
sculptures, drawings, models etc. themed on the topic of prayer. There were some
cool original creations including an angel bobblehead!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - THE SEXTH COMMANDMENT PART II (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
If you thought Part I was eventful, hold on to your horsies for Part II. We'll
be continuing to delve into the all important topic of God's plan for sexuality
in our lives and the need for chastity.
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - CHAPLET AND VOLLEYBALL (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
We'll be prayin' and playin' this Tuesday night as we start off praying a nice
Chaplet of Divine Mercy and then head on to the gym for some good ol'
volleyball. Please bring your rosaries! If you forget, we'll have some for
you.

I never re-use a send message in these LIFE TEEN weekly emails but I refuse to
believe that we can't all take a minute or two to write intentions on the prayer
blog so I am extending the draw for the USB drive to the 22nd. I have included
the details from last week below once again! Happy prayer posting!

We created this as it's a simple and quick way to post prayer intentions since
we're on our computers more than ever these days (as evidenced by popular sites
like Facebook).
Anyways, it's time to revive it once again! Here's what we're going to do: From
Tuesday to Friday, if you post a prayer intention on the site, your name will be
entered into a draw for a 1GB USB drive to be given away at LIFE Nite on the
22nd. Please note that this is for teens only and there can only be one entry
per teen (one entry for 1, 2 or 10 prayer intentions etc.). The winner must also
be present at the LIFE Nite.
Make it a great week, don't have sex until you're married and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
Sunday night wasn't just another improv LIFE Nite, it was a friendly competition
complete with tips and instructions on how to do it more effectively with the
help of special guest Joseph San Jose. We raced through various games and
everyone had fun either acting or watching others act. The coolest part of the
night was the fact that those who acted were not concerned about how silly they
looked up there in front of their peers. That's just gold.
On Tuesday night, we prayed a meditative Rosary complete with mood lighting and
candles and then headed to the gym for some volleyball.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - THE SEXTH COMMANDMENT PART I (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE CHASTITY LIFE NITE! This two-parter LIFE Nite will help
you understand God's plan for sexuality and the need for chastity in thoughts,
words and actions. We'll also give you some practical ways to be chaste and
modest in all your relationships. We've packed these two LIFE Nites with so
much that your head will be spinning by the end of it (in a good way).
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - ART ATTACK AND DQ (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
Get ready to put on your thinking caps! This Real PG is going let you exercise
a little creativity with prayer. Afterwards, we'll head over to Dairy Queen for
some well deserved tasty treats =) It's technically a Friday night so you should

Dear Friends in Christ,
If your memory is better than mine, you'll surely remember last Sunday's LIFE
Nite called "Maxed Out" which focused on the first three commandments. We
followed that up last night with a LIFE Nite called "No Place Like Home" where
the focus was on commandments 4,5 and 8.
Sunday night also saw the return of former Core Leader and Youth Ministry
Coordinator, Clay Imoo at a LIFE Nite. He was in fine form as usual and leaders
and teens alike were blessed to have him in spite of his busy schedule.
The night was quite simple but hopefully big in terms of impact. We kicked it
off with an icebreaker focusing on the topic of "home" spun off from the popular
board games "Headbanz." Teens and leaders were faced with the task of first
finding out who they were and then finding their pair (their home or what/who
they were home to). This was followed by a few rounds of Family Feud once
intertwined with teachings on commandments 4,5 and 8 and finally a cool closing
exercise which symbolized service, cleansing and forgiveness. Thanks to all who
came out. I know school is getting crazier!
On Tuesday night, we prayed a meditative Rosary and then headed to the gym for
some sports.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - IMPROV (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
It's been a while since we've hosted this teen favourite of a night! You won't
have to wait any longer as this night will feature the usual fun, laughs and
creative acting skills that we've all become accustomed to at our improv nights.
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SCRIPTURE STUDY, COMIC STRIPS AND PERSONAL PRAYER (7:30 PM
to 9:00 PM)!
What do scripture study, comic strips and personal prayer have in common? This
Real PG! Ok, that was terrible but I can guarantee this Real PG will be a

Here's an excerpt from last night's teaching at LIFE Nite on commandment 8:
Why is the idea of telling the truth seem so difficult? Everyone knows that it
is wrong to lie. We know this is true because no one goes around promoting the
idea that they are liars. Anytime someone accuses us of lying, we always make up
excuses as to why we are not lying, we never say that lying is okay.
It's a good one to think about especially the next time we come across a
situation where we consciously make a decision whether to lie or not.
Make it a great week, don't lie and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
Sunday's LIFE Nite "Maxed Out" was all about commandments 1, 2 and 3 and
featured a short video, extensive small group discussions and the best part of
all, Adoration in the church and some good advice on how to make God a part of
all our priorities.
So how do we fit God amongst all the other things we must do on a daily basis?
Answer: We include and remember him in everything we do on a daily basis. Easy
as pie.
On Tuesday night, we watched the final part of Sister Act 2 and played some
volleyball to end the night off. Break's over, everyone. We get back to some
hardcore prayer this Tuesday! See below for more information.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - NO PLACE LIKE HOME (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
This night is all about commandments 4, 5 and 8 and will feature a wacky

One of the things I am grateful for is Joshie's acceptance to take naps. Let me
explain.
Usually when toddlers are becoming tired and are in need of a nap, they will get
cranky and slowly "melt down." As you can probably imagine, this is typically
not a great sight for friends and family and not a lot of fun for parents. When
Joshie gets to this stage, we say to him "you're cranky, go to sleep" and he'll
do it! If he's in the car, he'll just close his eyes and if he's at home, he'll
arrange his pillows on the couch, crawl up on it and proceed to go to sleep. The
first few times this happened, Jenn and I turned to each other in utter
disbelief (without Joshie seeing, of course). In any case, praise God for Joshie
being programmed (for lack of a better word) this way.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Hi Everyone,
The St. Paul's original LIFE TEEN shirts have arrived and will be available for
pick-up at Sunday's LIFE Nite! For those who have paid, give yourselves a pat on
the back and for those who have not, please bring your $15 on Sunday night!
Unfortunately, any shirts not picked-up may be given to others who did not
pre-order but would now like a shirt.
Special thanks once again go to former Core Leader Dave Lee-son for spearheading
this project.
Thanks,
Rich
Dear Friends in Christ,
When you read the two words "Lois Lanes," that can only mean another LIFE TEEN
bowling event. That was exactly what it was on Sunday night as over 30 of us
made the trek down Richmond Highway towards our favorite little bowling alley.
Balls rolled, pins fell, people celebrated and here are the goods:
Top teen score - Nathan 146
Top overall score - Rich 150
Other notable scores - Rich 147, Jan 132, Nathan 125
Red pins - None because they no longer feature the red pin special
Slushies - Lots
Pizza - Some slices here and there
Fun - Ever so much
On Tuesday night, we watched the first part of Sister Act 2 and played some
volleyball to end the night off. This Tuesday is very much the same as you will
read below.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - MAXED OUT (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
We're going to break open the first three commandments and help you understand
the importance of priorities as they relate to God. This night will give you
practical ways to set your priorities to focus your day completely on God. Now
don't we all need this?
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SISTER ACT 2 PART II (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
We'll be watching the exciting conclusion of the St. Paul's LIFE TEEN classic
Sister Act 2 and then will be playing some volleyball or basketball in the gym.
See you there!

It seems like many leaders and teens are ramping up for test and mid-term
season. Although it can be stressful at times and you can literally be buried in
school work and other things going on in your life, you can only do your best,
concentrate on one thing at a time and do it well (as opposed to worry and
thinking about everything at once) and finally, don't look back on what you
could have done better because...well, it's already done. By looking back,
you've already wasted energy you could have used for the present.
Although we aren't perfect and will unlikely be able to follow these 3
rules/suggestions strictly (totally normal, being human), keeping them in mind
already keeps you ahead of the game.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
We took a Sunday off from LIFE Nites as it's Thanksgiving weekend. Whether you
had dinner Saturday night, Sunday night or Monday night, breakfast, lunch or
dinner, I hope that it went well and you all ate to your heart's content! Let us
not forget how fortunate we all are to be able to celebrate with good food and
drink amongst family and friends. We will often think of how it would be so nice
if we had this or didn't have to do that etc. but we are so truly blessed
already. You know that and I know that. We just need to be reminded once in a
while. Win the lottery? Compared to many in this world, we have more than if we
won the lottery. It's hard to imagine but it's true if you think about it. Crazy
crazy stuff. This is sounding more and more like a send message as I continue to
type so I think this is it so don't hold your breath for the one at the end of
this email.
On Tuesday night, we held a crazy Real PG where we created our own praise and
worship songs! Two of them were created in about half an hour and they sounded
half decent! Once perfected, they might find themselves at a future 6:30 pm
Mass! After exercising out vocal chords, it was over to the gym to...just
exercise with our two favourite sidekicks, volleyball and basketball.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - LOIS LANES BOWLING (8:00 PM to 10:15 PM)!
It’s been a while so let’s not hold off any longer and head out to Lois Lanes
for a night of bowling fun! $10 will get you shoe rental and two games. If
there are any parents or young adult who can help with driving, that would be
much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SISTER ACT 2 PART I (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
We’ll be watching part I of the St. Paul’s LIFE TEEN classic Sister Act 2 and
then will be playing some volleyball or basketball in the gym. Don’t miss out
on this relaxing Real PG!
SPIRIT AND LIFE TEEN CANUCK NIGHT - OCTOBER 16 - 6:00 PM!

Dear Friends in Christ,
That was an amazing dinner last night...
LIFE TEEN celebrated Thanksgiving one week early as everyone attending the LIFE
Nite was assigned to either the upper-class, middle-class or lower-class. There
were a couple of short teachings along with some large group discussion, a cool
video containing responses to the question of "why do you give back?" and of
course the dinner to end all LIFE TEEN dinners. Thanks to all who came out and
celebrated and learned a few things with us!
On Tuesday night, we further explored the topic of making tough moral calls as
per our semester this fall. Volleyball and basketball followed in the gym. I'm
serious when I say the level of play of volleyball has gone dramatically up. I'm
sure it's no coincidence that this started to happen after Father Justin left us
:)
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - NO LIFE!
This is our first NO LIFE of the fall as we take a one week break from LIFE
Nites and take the time to celebrate Thanksgiving with our friends and families!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - MAKE YOUR OWN PRAISE AND WORSHIP SONG (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
Continuing with our ongoing goal to bring you new and exciting LIFE Nites and
Real PGs, we debut a Real PG where you (along with the help of a musician) will
be able to create your own praise and worship song and perform it to the delight
of your peers! Can’t wait for this one!

I love long weekends and as we head into Thanksgiving long weekend, let's
remember to be thankful for everything we have. Work or school might not always
be at its best (especially Mondays) but yes, even that we can and should be
thankful for. There's a week before Thanksgiving so let's take these seven days
and be thankful to God for at least one simple thing per day. I'll play along
too of course. Today I'm thankful for my job. It was busy with new systems and
processes and my co-worker was sick which made it busier but I'm thankful I have
a job, enough money to live and support a family, a roof over my head at home
and at work, people to interact with on a daily basis, a comfortable working
environment... It just goes on and on. Thank you very much, God. One down, 6
more to go...
Make it a great week and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
Last night we explored the topic of our consciences, our freedom and sin and
took at look at some very interesting and often highly debated scenarios in
small groups. It was a LIFE Nite that had a bit of everything. There was a funny
icebreaker, a good dose of laughs, some excellent skits to enhance the
teachings, good use of multimedia, spirited small group discussions and a great
meditation to end the night off. In fact, it was so great that we had to end a
few minutes late! Sorry about that!
My favorite part of the night was when Elaine revealed the reason the LIFE Nite
was named "Apples to Apples." That was absolutely gold. You could just hear the
"ahs" throughout the room (including myself). I'd like to see the replay of that
one if I could.
On Tuesday night, we brainstormed some article ideas for the next LIFE TEEN
newsletter and then wrote a bunch of them within the hour to create the greatest
group effort newsletter ever! Without spelling and grammar check, it also might
be the most grammatically challenged newsletter ever but let's hope not! It
should be out shortly so look out for it at the conclusion of a future 6:30 PM
Mass.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - THANKSGIVING DINNER (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we're going to take a look at all we
have to be thankful for and ways we can give back! There will be some good food
at this night and a cool activity to accompany it. There will also be a mystery
surprise guest speaker! Talked about a stuffed night!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - TOUGH CALLS (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
Continuing with our semester on morality, we'll be doing an activity involving
scripture which will help/guide you in making moral decisions in
true-to-life-situations. Volleyball and basketball will follow afterwards. As
Joshie often says "funnn!"

Is it me or is there a lot of suffering going on these days?
Locally, it's everyone getting sick! I don't remember a time when so many people
have been sick and so frequently. These aren't just your average common colds
either. Many are getting sick for days often suffering from a fever.
Internationally or not so locally, the best (or worst?) example of suffering is
probably found in the Philippines where people are suffering from massive
flooding. Seeing some of the pictures just turns my stomach inside-out.
Suffering is not all bad though. If anything, it brings us closer to God and to
each other and helps us bring into perspective what's really important in our
lives. Suffering does have a purpose in our lives. It's important. Just ask
Jesus who suffered for all of mankind. I'm sure he'd agree.
Next time you are suffering, maybe don't be so bummed out about it. Accept it.
Lastly, please remember to continue to pray for those in the Philippines!
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
That was a bowl of fun last night as we hosted our LIFE Nite on "living in
truth!" We learned how we are all called to be witnesses to the truth and when
we struggle, the Holy Spirit is just waiting to help us out! We just need to
ask!
The evening featured leaders dressed up as secret service agents checking teens'
ID before they were to enter Rooms 1 and 2! The rest of the night featured some
cool videos, an interesting teaching, some scripture study/small group time and
an awesome prayover exercise where teens had the opportunity to be prayed over
by their favorite Core Leader! Thanks to all who came out last night! We leaders
are humbled when you make time for LIFE Nites!
On Tuesday night, it was Christian games night and we chose as a group to play
Bible Outburst and it surely lived up to its name as it was likely one of the
louder Real PGs in recent memory! A shout out goes to Swann who was extra
spirited during the game!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - APPLES TO APPLES (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
This night is aimed at answering your questions on freedom, conscience and sin.
By the time we're done with you on this night, you will understand the need for
a well-informed conscience to make right decisions and live in true freedom.
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - ALL ABOUT THE LIFE TEEN NEWSLETTER (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
We'll be talking about the newsletter, discussing what you want to see in it and
also creating material to publish in the next edition! Don't miss it! We'll
then play some volleyball in the gym which will have nothing to do with the
newsletter.

I love Joshie not just because he's my kid or because he does cute things every
day. I love Joshie because he makes my day whole. It was an extremely busy week
and weekend for me and last night was a milestone. It wasn't officially the end
of being busy but it was a break and great time for me to recharge and get ready
for another week.
Anyways, I was bagged last night but it was great to find out Joshie was still
awake when I came home from LIFE Nite. Obviously he didn't say too many complete
sentences to me but he just was there and seemed to understand that Daddy had a
long day and was tired. He just followed me wherever I went. When I sat down, he
sat down closely beside me, when I was on the computer, he stood closely beside
me and when I went to bed...well he was asleep already. I guess he had a tiring
day as well.
That's it for this week! I'm ready to go again!
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
The first word that comes to mind when describing this year's version the the
LIFE TEEN Fall Kick-Off is "crazy." It was absolutely crazy last night as we
ended Mass and welcomed 61 teens into LIFE Nite! It was the perfect storm as we
are still fresh off the LIFE TEEN Summer Retreat and also "Buried Treasure"
weekend where we met and talked to many parishioners who were new to what St.
Paul's had to offer in terms of ministries.
The LIFE Nite illustrated what typically goes on and also gave teens a chance to
express what they would like to see at future LIFE Nites. It also included a
parents session, cool icebreaker games and even an unveiling of the new St.
Paul's LIFE TEEN t-shirt (more on this and how you can get your hot little hands
on one later). Thanks to all who came out! The Core Leaders are going to work
hard for you this year to put on new and exciting nights that will make you
wonder why you would ever want to miss one.
On Tuesday night, we went into the topic of "abandonment" by listening to
scripture, partaking in discussions and listening to a Matt Maher song that
summed up the whole topic. As usual, a spirited volleyball match followed!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - SERVE AND PROTECT (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
After attending this LIFE Nite, you will understand that all moral truths are
based in Christ and the Church has been commissioned to safeguard these truths.
This night will address the problems of moral relativism and help the teens
understand their role in being witnesses to the truth. If you didn’t get what
you just read, you need to come out to this LIFE Nite!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - CHRISTIAN GAMESS (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
We'll have a bunch of Christian games for you to choose from. These include,
Bible Pictionary, Bible Mad Gab, Bible Outburst etc. Come out, learn something
and have some fun in the process. After games, we'll have more fun in the gym
with our weekly volleyball duel.
NEW ST. PAUL'S LIFE TEEN SHIRT FOR ORDER!
We unveiled a new Vancouver Canuck inspired St. Paul's LIFE TEEN t-shirt at the
Fall Kick-Off and are now taking orders. Shirts cost only $15 each and part of
the proceeds go to raise funds for the program. Special thanks go to Dave
Lee-son for designing the shirt and spearheading this initiative. Check it out

Here's a funny one for you this week:
AN ITALIAN BOY'S CONFESSION
'Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl'.
The priest asks, 'Is that you, little Joey Pagano ?'
'Yes, Father, it is.'
'And who was the girl you were with?'
'I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation'.
"Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well
tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?'
'I cannot say.'
'Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?'
'I'll never tell.'
'Was it Nina Capelli?'
'I'm sorry, but I cannot name her.'
'Was it Cathy Piriano?'
'My lips are sealed.'
'Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?' 'Please, Father, I cannot tell you.'
The priest sighs in frustration.
'You're very tight lipped, and I admire that.. But you've sinned and have to
atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave
yourself.'
Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers,
'What'd you get?'
'Four months vacation and five good leads.'
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
It wasn't just LIFE Nite on Sunday, it was LIFE Afternoon and Nite as we held a
longer day to fit in all the things we wanted to incorporate into this year's
version of the retreat reunion! There were small group discussions, praise and
worship, 4 square Dodgeball, improv, cool videos highlighting moments from the
retreat and just a fantastic selection of food. It was fun seeing everyone again
and reliving some great moments amidst great food. It sure helped me remember
the retreat : )
On Tuesday night, Pat led a Real PG focussing on listening to music and looking
for Christian themes within. It was a record-setting or at least close to a
record-setting Real PG in terms of attendance. We then played volleyball in the
gym. It was once again a huge turnout for volleyball, the unofficial official
sport of LIFE TEEN.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - FALL KICK-OFF (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)
We are going to officially kick-off the fall semester of LIFE TEEN welcoming new
grade 8's into the program. This night is packed with skits, food, fun and an
unveiling of a surprise LIFE TEEN initiative that's exclusive to St. Paul's!
Don't miss out!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SCRIPTURE, REFLECTION AND PRAYER (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
We'll be doing some short punchy fun prayer/scripture reflections at this Real
PG and then we'll play some basketball or volleyball to cap off the night.
Bummed out about school? Come on out and let's put everything into perspective!
We'll play some volleyball afterwards as well!

Sometimes I think Joshie knows more than I think he knows. It was just last
night I was reflecting on a few things and casually surfing the internet. It's
late at night when you start to reflect and your mind starts to wander. This is
sometimes good but also sometimes not so good as when you are tired, you tend to
be easily agitated and perhaps are more susceptible to incorrect conclusions.
Anyways, in doing that, I was foregoing some time with Joshie playing basketball
on his little hoop or playing Wii Sports Resort (which is an excellent game by
the way) but he seemed to understand what I needed to do and proceeded to sit
quietly watching me type away at the dining room table. He actually crawled up
on the seat beside me and even lay his head down on the table as he was tired.
He didn't complain. He simply watched and waited for me until I was done and
then we went to bed together. He's amazing.
Make it a great week and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
Sunday night was our first-ever LIFE TEEN Block Party featuring praise and
worship, food, games, hanging out and one huge glow-in-dark game of capture the
flag or fort knox. It was quite the set-up. We were constrained as the parish
centre was not available due to a fresh coat of wax being applied to the floor
and in a way it was a blessing in disguise. Praise and worship was the coolest
part of the night as we projected song lyrics using the overhead against the
wall the St. Paul's school. It was an awesome night of community and fellowship
and proved to be a perfect follow-up LIFE Nite to this year's LIFE TEEN Summer
Retreat!
On Tuesday night, we were in Abbotsford in the dark as our facility was without
power for most of the day. It was quite the experience and actually played
perfectly into the session of the night. Silent Adoration in candlelight is
something to be experienced.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - RETREAT REUNION
We will be holding our retreat reunion on this day/night and will be welcoming
retreat participants at 1:30 PM and everyone else after 6:30 PM Mass! Come on
out to relive the retreat with everyone once more with food, games and fun! This
is a potluck event prior to Mass so please bring a dish to share!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - RADIO LT (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!
Welcome to Radio LT with 'the Real PG'
It'll be good one for sure, come join us and see
We'll be listening to the beats, looking at the words
To find out what for real, to ignore what's absurd
And to top it all off, at the end of Prayer Group
We can play some vball or shoot some hoops

The highlight of my retreat this year? That's easy. Read on, my friends:
This year, one of the skits we featured for our "confession session" was a drama
on forgiveness mimed after the Jars of Clay song "Worlds Apart." In a nutshell,
it featured a main character going through the struggles of dating, getting into
wrong crowds, getting pregnant, feeling the pressures of friends and parents and
eventually considering suicide. At each step of the way, Jesus was there to take
on the burden and eventually comfort the main character breaking her free from
all her stresses and "chains" so to speak.
I was fortunate to be a part of this skit and it was highly emotional for all
those who were a part of it. We practiced and practiced for this over and over
again but it was the final act that brought out the emotion. I remember the end,
we were all lying on the ground, with teary eyes. Oggy was sobbing beside me and
we were gasping for air as if it took a lot out of us. It was an amazing
experience and something I will never forget. I wish everyone I knew and cared
for could have seen it live. That's how powerful it was.
Praise God for allowing us to pour our hearts into portraying a message to our
teens.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
Sunday night was a lot of fun with lots of praise and worship and a special
blessing by the priests as we make our final preparations before leaving on
retreat. It was a great night and unfortunately was also Deacon Edwin's last
LIFE Nite with us. He's off to bigger and better things as he continues on his
journey to become a priest. That was about it. And can you tell from the general
references that I wrote this before LIFE Nite? C'mon, I want to get to bed early
so I'm awake for Monday!
On Tuesday night, we watched the second half of a St. Paul DVD starring Peter
Forsberg as Paul/Saul and then proceeded to play some volleyball in the gym. The
Forsberg reference will make sense for hockey fans who happened to watch the
movie.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - LIFE TEEN BLOCK PARTY (8:00 PM to 9:00 PM)!
Block this Sunday night off in your calendars as we will be partying it up in
the St. Paul's parking lot! There will be food, sports, games and lots of
hanging out. It's the perfect follow-up to retreat week! See you there!

It's going to be a short one this week!
As you read this, we're already on retreat so please throw in a prayer before
you sleep tonight for all 71 participants in Abbotsford. God willing, it's going
to be an amazing experience for all. We will surely be praying for all of you at
home! See you when we see you.
As I write this, I'm once again experiencing mixed emotions (as with every year
at this time). I love the retreat but I also love spending time with the family.
I was trying to soak up all the Joshie time I could before I leave him for three
nights but it still didn't seem like it was enough. Pray for me too! Thanks in
advance!
Make it a great week and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
We're done with the Sacraments and it is time to take a deeper look into the
topic of morality and we did just that with "Thy Kingdom Come" on Sunday night!
The night introduced the topic of morality and featured a cool kingdom creation
exercise, amazing multimedia presentations, a testimony, small group discussions
and some cool reflections. The neat thing this semester is a morality box which
will be available at each morality LIFE Nite this semester. Teens will be able
to anonymously submit morality questions at each LIFE Nite and the box will then
magically speak and answer the questions.
I'm just kidding of course. What will happen instead is that we'll pick one out
at every LIFE Nite to be answered and shared.
On Tuesday night, we watched the first half of a St. Paul DVD and then proceeded
to play some volleyball in the gym. The popularity of volleyball has been insane
since we started regularly incorporating it into Real PG! Yes, I said insane!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - RETREAT PRAISE AND WORSHIP SEND-OFF (8:00 PM to 9:00
PM)!
Everyone is welcome to join in praising and worshiping God for the upcoming
retreat. There will also be a blessing for all the retreat participants! Teens
- whether or not they are going to the retreat, parents, young adults are all
encouraged to take part as a community to praise and pray with the retreat
participants! Please note that this night will end 30 minutes earlier than
normal!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - ST. PAUL - A MULTIMEDIA EXPERIENCE-PART II (7:30 PM - 9:00
PM)!
We'll be watching the conclusion of our movie on St. Paul! We left off at the
point where Saul was just cured of his blindness and escaped from the grasps of
his persecutors at Damascus. I can't wait to see Saul (or Paul) on the good
guy's side!

We are officially within a week to this year's LIFE TEEN Summer Retreat. How can
I not make my send message on something about the retreat? I can't, so here
goes...
I'd like to challenge all retreat participants this year to take one hour this
week to spend in front of the Blessed Sacrament to reflect, pray, listen etc.
You may want to spend some time thinking about how you are going to prepare
yourself for this year's retreat and what you are looking to get out of it. You
might want to pray for all retreaters or simply sit in silence listening to what
God has to say. In any case, this hour will put you ahead of the game. The
retreat will more than likely give you a spiritual high but why not give
yourself that head start to make your spiritual high...higher?
Don't just pop in and out. Get comfortable and stay a while. I'm in!
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
Jason and Sarah were the stars of the show last night during LIFE Nite as we
visited the topic of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. A mock wedding of Jason
and Sarah kicked-off the night before a series of short teachings, a small group
discussion that simply was too short, a candid Q & A session with my wife and I
and finally, a closing activity and song in the church.
On top of that, we did all this after a day of selling pasta at all the Masses!
Thanks to all the leaders and teens who came out to help! Much appreciated!
On Tuesday night, we once again took at look at some scripture and put together
skits summarizing what we learned. It was an excellent activity and we all
learned a technique we can use in future scripture studies!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - THY KINGDOM COME (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
We're done with the Sacraments and now we move onto our semester on morality.
This night will help you understand that morality is more than a list of rules
and regulations. True morality is rooted in the Father and leads us to the
fullness of joy here on earth and our ultimate fulfillment in heaven! Uh huh!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - ST. PAUL - A MULTIMEDIA EXPERIENCE (7:30 PM - 9:00 PM)!
We'll be watching a movie on YouTube on St. Paul! You won't want to this video
shown on big screen in Room 5. Volleyball will follow for those who are just
yearning for some exercise.

I'd like to share with you a couple of prayers of discernment Jen and I
considered for last night's LIFE Nite on marriage. Please feel free to use
amongst the prayers you say this week. Here's the first:
Loving Father,
You have blessed me with wonderful gifts. Through baptism I am a member of
Christ's Body the Church, and share in its mission of proclaiming the Gospel and
becoming a Holy People. Keep my heart open to following Jesus' way of serving
others in love and to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Very nice, right? And here's the second:
My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going...etc.
And yes, that's why we went with the first one!
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
There was no LIFE Nite on Sunday night due to the long weekend; however, leaders
were in the Parish Centre planning diligently for the upcoming LIFE TEEN Summer
Retreat. Needless to say, Core Leaders are hardcore.
On Tuesday night, we took a look at the scripture readings for the coming Sunday
and then, in groups, created our own homilies and presented them to the rest of
the group. Father Flores was also present taking down notes and ideas. I have a
feeling he likes these types of Real PGs.
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - HITCHED (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!
We're going to answer the question of why marriage is a sacrament. This night
will answer questions on marriage, divorce and annulments and will also help you
to discern your vocation and encourage you to pray for your future spouse.
There's really nothing much this night won't do.
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SCRIPTURE STUDY SURPRISE AND VOLLEYBALL (7:30 PM - 9:00 PM)!
It's "Scripture Study Surprise!" Come join us for scripture study with an
interesting method of exploring what the verses tells us about God and what they
mean for us! Of course, volleyball will follow afterwards!
LIFE TEEN SUMMER RETREAT PASTA SALES NEXT SUNDAY!
It's that time of year again and LIFE TEEN will be selling bags of pasta after

Father Flores had a nice short and sweet homily at this morning's Mass. He
mentioned how we all struggle in our lives with the ups and downs of life and
grieve over people we have lost etc. (even Jesus struggled back in the day) but
we must not lose sight of the big picture of keeping true to our mission.
Remember our mission not only entails building our own relationship with God and
all that other good stuff associated with this but it also includes leading
others close to Christ so that they can too reap in the benefits of a meaningful
life centered around Christ and His teachings.
So go out this week and tell or show someone what you and your faith are all
about.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
Continuing on with our semester on the Sacraments, we hosted our LIFE Nite on
the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Sunday night! The LIFE Nite was complete with
priest testimonies, a wacky relay which simulated how a priest is ordained, a
great question and answer period and finally a chance for teens and leaders to
write letters to their priests/deacon/seminarian/sisters thanking them for
everything they do. I should also mention that we aired the latest episode of
"The Party" which was very well-received :) Stay tuned for the finale coming in
a couple of weeks!
On Tuesday night, Ceci introduced us to a Prayer Brigade which is like the
Chinese telephone game but with prayers and drawing instead of whispering. I
can't get much more detailed than that. If you don't know what I'm talking
about, just ask me in person. Volleyball did not follow last week but not to
worry as we are back on this week!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - NO LIFE!
It's a long weekend and that means we'll be taking a one week break from LIFE
Nites! See you in a week's time!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SCRIPTURE STUDY AND VOLLEYBALL (7:30 PM - 8:30 PM)!
We're going back to our good ol' tried, tested and true Real PG topic of
scripture study. Come out, see how God's words are speaking to you and enjoy
some good times with your fellow peers and Core Leaders! Volleyball will follow
afterwards.
BEACH DAY AUGUST 3RD - 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
It's a long weekend coming up and that means another beach day at Spanish Banks.
We'll be at our usual spot at our usual time. If you're dumbfounded by the
previous sentence, see any Core Leader for help.
If it rains or looks like it's going to rain, beach day will likely be
cancelled!

When I was younger I used to worry about forgetting to pray for something or
someone when I got down to doing it. I mean there are a lot of people to pray
for if you think about it for a second. Maybe this was a sign of OCD at that
time but wasn't all bad. At least I was thorough in my prayers, right? Someone
was benefitting from my OCD tendencies...
Anyways, I was sitting in the church before Saturday morning Mass this weekend
and it all of a sudden struck me! It's simple really. To lessen the chance of me
forgetting to pray for something or someone, I just have to pray more and more
frequently. So simple and yet it takes years of pondering for it to come to my
senses.
Make it a great week and God Bless,

Dear Friends in Christ,
It was a gorgeous sunny evening for Sunday's LIFE Nite, making it the perfect
weather for Garry Point. Five teams ventured off to search all around Steveston,
figuring out clues, looking for items and completing various tasks such as
hitting the tennis ball over the net 10 times (not as easy as it sounds). It was
an extended night and luckily God blessed us with a later sunset as teens and
leaders alike were able to look for clues later than usual. It was great
exercise for all as everyone was running around trying to find as many clues as
they could; one team even ran to the corners of the designated area, finding the
clues with the most points. Everyone seemed to have a good time and thanks to
everyone who came out! The points are still being added up (sorry, addition is
not Jan's thing) so stay tuned next LIFE Nite for the final results.
On Tuesday night, Charly introduced us to a great new prayer blog we can all use
together. Check it out:
www.lifeteenprayer.blogspot.com
I'll tell you more about this down below in my send for this week!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - CALLED (8:00 PM TO 9:30 PM)!
This cool LIFE Nite will help you understand the role and effects of Holy Orders
for bishops, priests and deacons. This night will also give you practical tools
to discern your own vocation. Finally, this night will give you an opportunity
to affirm and appreciate our priests and deacon!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - PRAYER BRIGADE (7:30 PM - 8:30 PM)!
There are many different things to pray for and this Tuesday we'll be getting
together to pray for all these different intentions and creatively find how we
can link our intentions together. Volleyball and other sports in the gym follow
afterwards.

I think Charly's idea of creating a prayer blog that we can all own is just
super. Every time we get on the computer or phone, most of us have our "go to"
websites and applications such as Facebook, MSN, ESPN, Twitter. Why not add
another one where it's more spiritual, God-centred and prayerful? It's also one
where you can post (make it personal) and see your fellow LIFE TEENers postings
as well. Now how fun is that? I'll answer that. Very fun!
It's just another way of including prayer in our lives and making it more of the
norm rather than the exception. That's the key! That's where the money is! So
make sure you check out the prayer blog, make your dent in it, bookmark it and
check it out daily along with your laundry list of sites you check on a regular
basis.
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich

Dear Friends in Christ,
At Sunday's LIFE Nite, we all washed our hair with shampoo and felt revitalized.
I'm kidding. That was baaad but I must give credit to Charly's Mass announcement
from two Sundays ago.
We actually did something very different from this and instead took a look at
the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. After a wacky relay using props and
our imaginations on cures for strange illnesses, we heard from Jen, Leo, Father
Luterbach and Deacon Edwin on the topic including some cool stories of actual
Anointings. We then split up into small groups for further discussion before
ending off the night in Adoration with the true presence of Jesus Christ on the
altar in the church. It was an informative night on a rather lesser known
Sacrament. Thanks to all teens who came out!
On Tuesday night, we had a record Real PG as there were almost not enough chairs
to seat everyone. It was a funny Real PG as we split up into groups and
performed skits based on some common things every Catholic should know. We then
capped it off with some spirited volleyball in the gym! In fact, it may have
been one of the most fun sessions of volleyball to date!
NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - GARRY POINT SCAVENGER HUNT (8:00 PM TO 10:00 PM)!
Summer's here and it's time for another night at Garry Point! Come join us for
our first scavenger hunt of the year. There will be puzzles, outrageous tasks
and a whole lot of fresh air! The only thing you won't have to find is fun
because fun will find you!
TUESDAY'S REAL PG - PRAYING ONLINE AND VOLLEYBALL (7:30 PM - 9:00 PM)!
Everyone seems to be online these days so wouldn't it be nice if we could pray
online? We actually can and we'll show you how to do just that at this
one-of-a-kind Real PG! Bring your gym strip as we'll be playing volleyball
afterwards as well!

It's funny how the smallest seemingly insignificant things are sometimes worth
the most. One of the new and favorite things Joshie does these days is open the
door when I drive my car into the garage.
It's so simple but so cool at the same time. I would drive my car into the
garage and more often that not after a few seconds, Joshie would open the door
with either a stuffed Miga or Elmo under his arm and a big smile on his face. I
would get out of the car to greet by saying "Hi Josh" to which he would respond
with "Hi Josh."
Hey, I said it was simple and cool. I didn't say it was perfect :)
Make it a great week and God Bless,
Rich
