Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday night's LIFE Nite took place in historic Steveston as teens and leaders
ventured around town looking for answers to clues in this year's edition of the
LIFE TEEN Scavenger Hunt. We must have all walked in excess of 4km looking for
stores, walls, streets, bus stop numbers etc. It was a lot of fun and was the
ultimate team-building event. Thanks to all who came out! Remember to post your
pictures on FB as per Elaine's instructions and the winning team will be
announced shortly! Praise God for the awesome weather and for rides working out.

On Tuesday night, we split the group into two groups and played a lil' Bible
Pictionary. One team actually was perfect in terms of guessing correctly.
Congrats to the drawers and guessers for Team 1!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - I TOLD YOU SO (8:00PM to 9:30PM)!

Did you know that the coming of the Messiah was prophesized more than 700 years
before His birth? This LIFE Nite will help you understand that the Incarnation
is the anchor of Scripture and the story of salvation. Prepare to be challenged
to invite Christ to be the central part of your lives, especially through
devotion to the Eucharist.

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SCRIPTURE STUDY (7:30PM to 9:00PM)!

We've had a lot of fun at Real PG's in the past few weeks and so we are going to
build on that fun while engaging in some summer scripture study. As it's
summer, there's always the chance that we'll be going off-site! Come on out and
let's discuss some scripture with your leaders and peers!

It's probably safe to say that most people who work or go to school Monday to
Friday prefer the weekends over the weekdays. I used to be the same and in some
ways still think like that. In fact, often I'd be dreaming about nothing other
than the weekend during the weekdays.

I don't necessarily think that's the best way to look at things any longer and
I'm trying to alter my views on this. My reasoning goes like this:

God didn't just give us 2 days of the week to enjoy. God gave us 7 days and I'm
certain that each should be taken as a gift. Each day should not be taken for
granted. Sure, some of my weekdays non-eventfully consist of waking up,
commuting and spending a day in the office behind a computer, sleeping etc. and
not much else too fruitful and yes, work will always be work, but it's still a
gift.

If you don't currently have this mentality, try it out. Post-weekend blues might
not be so blue and a bad case of the Mondays might not be so bad after all.

Make it a great week, stay hydrated and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday's LIFE Nite was titled "I Told You So" and focused on prophecies. Aside
from the cheesy Mass announcement, the evening both fun and educational. Things
kicked-off with our icebreaker "Humdinger," followed by a very entertaining skit
featuring some live prophets. The second half of the night included some small
group discussion and a teen and leader favorite, Adoration. Thanks to all who
came out and for leaders who dressed warmly to add to the Christmas theme
despite the heat!

On Tuesday night, Pete led us in a scripture study based on our prayer lives and
how we can sometimes be better listeners in our prayer. We then ended the night
with some volleyball in the gym!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - NO LIFE!

It's a long weekend and that means we'll be taking a break from LIFE Nites to

8th!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - WHAT IS LECTIO DIVINA (7:30PM to 9:00PM)!

What is Lectio Divina and how do we pray/read it? Save yourself some time
Googling it and check out this Real PG for your Lectio Divina one stop shop!
Sports in the gym will follow!

Have you ever tried to "do nothing" for a while? In this fast-paced world of
ours where we are almost always connected and there is always something to be
done at work, home or even on the road, it's often a good idea to take some down
time to speak or listen to God. The best place for this is none other than
Adoration in the chapel but anywhere else quiet is not too bad either. Even
computers (mostly PCs) need to be switched off or rebooted once in a while to
become more effective afterwards.

The point is to try and "do nothing." Now that may not be hard for some of you
(haha) but most of us are busy people with something always knocking at our
doors. It's a challenge to say the least.

Make it a great week, try to do nothing once in a while and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

This past weekend was another long one (thank goodness) and that meant we took a
break from LIFE Nites and held a LIFE TEEN Beach Day on the Monday which is
always a lot of fun. Teens, young adults and leaders were at Spanish Banks for
the majority of Monday hanging out, playing in the sand and sun-bathing. It was
a nice turnout and the weather wasn't blistering hot this time around. It was
bittersweet, as folks, that may have been it in terms of beach days for 2010.
See you in 2011! Well, you never know...it might just get super hot in September
as the Earth continues to heat up...

On Tuesday night, we took a look at what Lectio Divina was all about! If you
missed it, not to worry as we're on for more meaty Real PG this week. Check out
the details below!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - KINGDOM COME (8:00PM to 9:30PM)!

Come see how the Kingdom of God is proclaimed by Christ in His words (parables)
and His actions (miracles), specifically in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke! At
this action-packed LIFE Nite, you will see how miracles are still happening in
your own lives and be given practical ways to apply Jesus’ teachings.

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - TAKING A LOOK AT SUNDAY'S READINGS (7:30PM to 9:00PM)!

We’ll be dissecting the readings for the coming Sunday to help you break down
their messages and help make your Mass experience that much more meaningful.
Plus sports in the gym will follow!

Just before you start reflecting on how great the long weekend was, all the
great things you managed to do and how it's all quickly coming to a close, take
solace in the fact that it's a short week coming up! One of the great bonuses of
long weekends where the extra day off is on a Monday is that there's still light
at the end of the tunnel with a short week after the weekend's over. It's a
double whammy.

It's like a short-handed goal in hockey where you end up killing-off the penalty
as well. Not only do you get a goal out of it, you stave off a great chance from
the other team to get one on you...hence, double whammy.

Make it a great week, have a double whammy of a good time and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

LIFE Nites came back with a vengeance as our night on parables and miracles
"Kingdom Come" took place Sunday evening! It was an incredible LIFE Nite with
all the elements! We had a great Mass announcement, an entertaining video, great
acting, outstanding environment and some great reflection time. There was little
more you could ask for in a LIFE Nite. Thanks to all of you who came out last
night. I can feel the retreat excitement already... No one seemed like they
wanted to leave after the LIFE Nite!

On Tuesday night, we took a look at Sunday's readings which meant that those who
were there and at multiple Masses on the weekend selling pasta became very
familiar with the readings and Gospel message.

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - CELEBRATION OF LIFE (8:00PM to 9:30PM)!

Pro-Life is more than being anti-abortion and anti-euthanasia. It's about
respecting and celebrating life. Want to find out more? Come to this night and
prepare to be equipped with tons of useful information!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - ST. WHO? AND THE LITURGY OF THE HOURS (7:30PM to 9:00PM)!

The Liturgy of the Hours is back and this time, we'll pray it in honour of a
saint whose Feast Day is Aug. 10! Don't know who the saint is? Join us to find
out! If you have a favourite saint story, share it with us too! Sports in the
gym will follow!

Some pretty swank points came out of the small group discussion from last
night's LIFE Nite. Our group was assigned the passage from Matthew where Jesus
calms the storm at sea. Basically, the disciples were on a boat with a sleeping
Jesus when a storm arose which resulted in the disciples waking Jesus asking him
to save them.

In some senses, you'd perhaps feel that the disciples wouldn't need to get all
bent out of shape as they had the Son of God physically there with them. C'mon
guys, relax, right? Today we don't have the ability to just tap a physical Jesus
on the shoulder and ask Him for a miracle or simply to pass the salt (we'd have
to ask someone else or reach over and get it ourselves). So, perhaps the
disciples had it easy?

The other school of thought is that the disciples didn't have the luxury of
knowing about his entire life through choice scripture readings and homilies
like we do today. They didn't know what was capable. So, perhaps the disciples
had it rough. Get it? Rough? Like rough on the boat?

Anyways, that's something to think about this week...

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday night was all about celebrating life. We took a look at the importance of
lives form various levels esp. those who are marginalized in this society and
perhaps what we can do to help. We have it a lot better than many others and
don't often take enough time to reach out.

It was a great party of a LIFE Nite. Snacks were available at the beginning of
LIFE Nite for a change, there was a crazy icebreaker, some engaging talks and
touching testimonies. We had Joe as a guest to lead us in some praise and
worship as well! Yes, we packed that all in 94 minutes of LIFE Nite!

On Tuesday night, we prayed the Liturgy of the Hours and discussed our favorite
Saints and miracles. Some volleyball in the gym followed!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - PRAISE AND WORSHIP SEND-OFF (8:00PM to 9:00PM)!

It's the evening before 77 of us head out to Summit Park for 4 days of getting
closer to God and we'll be getting warmed-up with an exciting and energetic
evening of praise and worship. Come join us even if you are not coming out to
this year's LIFE TEEN Summer Retreat. This LIFE Nite is not only limited to
teens and will be open to whoever wants to join us. PLEASE NOTE THE SPECIAL END
TIME FOR THIS LIFE NITE!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - A PEEK INTO THE THEOLOGY OF THE BODY BY CHRISTOPHER
WEST(7:30PM to 9:00PM)!

Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body is both a treasure for the Church and a
gift of the Holy Spirit. Yet, its scholarly language needs to be 'translated'
into more accessible categories if the average person is to benefit from it.
Christopher West has been given a particular charism to carry out this mission.
Come on out as we listen to a sample of what the highly touted CDs are all
about.

I think one of my favorite things in life is seeing Joshie happy. There's very
little that can match-up to it. It could be at the driving range while he's
hitting more than his fair share of balls, doing runs with me up and down our
driveway or at a toy store where he would quickly seek out the train table to
spend a good 20 minutes or so until we have to get going.

We decided to buy Cranky - the crane from Thomas and Friends, for Joshie this
weekend. He's wanted it for a long time and we finally found it at Metrotown. It
was a very reasonable 35 dollars or so but as much as the toy meant to him, I
would have paid 100 dollars for it. Watching him play with it later that evening
is pretty much priceless.

Praise God for giving me these moments.

That's it this week. Simple but the feeling behind this message is so much more.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

There was no LIFE Nite on Sunday night as it was the last long weekend of the
summer and the last chance for everyone to spend some free time with family and
friends. Mass was uplifting as usual and lots of fellowship and community was
had by all following Mass. There's a big LIFE Nite coming next Sunday so we'll
more than make-up for the absence this week!

On Tuesday night, we hosted possibly the largest Real PG ever as over 25 were in
attendance for our post-retreat Rosary and Dairy Queen night. Sports in the gym
also followed to make it a packed evening!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - FALL KICK-OFF (8:00 PM TO 9:30 PM)!

Come start the school year with LIFE TEEN's Fall Kick-Off as we welcome new
teens from Grade 8! This night is filled with games, food, songs, and a chance
to learn what LIFE TEEN is all about. Parents are invited to an info session
from 8:00 – 8:30pm. Bring your friends! We promise loads of fun for teens new
and seasoned!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SURPRISE REAL PG (7:30PM to 9:00PM)!

Come on out to this Tuesday's Real PG for a prayer experience like no other! As
for what we'll be doing, you'll just have to come out to find out! A couple of
things are "givens" though. This WILL be well worth your time and there WILL be
sports following the night!

different from the one's from previous years.

I just wanted to pass on some particulars with regards to Father Luterbach's
homily at the 6:30 PM Mass last night as it was a good one. At least I thought
so! Anyway, Father talked about the differences between followers and disciples.

Followers go to church regularly, follow the teachings of the Catholic faith for
the most part and are generally good people.

Disciples, on the other hand, take this to the next level. Their faith is at the
centre of their life. Everything they do and are a part of in life is tied back
to their faith and their relationship with God. They seek to live out their
faith instead of living within the boundaries of Catholic teachings. Their faith
exudes from how they carry themselves. Needless to say, there is a high level of
devotion here and trust in our God.

We'd all like to say we are disciples but whether we are or are not, well,
that's a question you'll have to ask yourself as no one should be judging you.

Make it a great week, be a DISCIPLE and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday night's LIFE Nite was our annual Fall Kick-Off which is when we welcome
all new grade 8's into the LIFE TEEN program and boy, did they respond!
Approximately 60 teens took in this high energy LIFE Nite comprised of games,
relays, small group discussions and praise and worship. There was even a session
dedicated to parents of teens! Special thanks to everyone who came out and to
our guest speaker, Clay Imoo from the Archdiocese of Vancouver. The slide show
at the end of the evening really capped-off what LIFE TEEN was all about. The
leaders are already looking forward to many more exciting LIFE Nites with you
this semester!

On Tuesday night, much of our time at Real PG was spent on reflecting in silence
and writing our own personalized prayers. This is surely something we don't get
to do often and it was certainly time well spent!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - SELF IMAGE (8:00 PM TO 9:30 PM)!

Make sure you set time aside in your busy schedules to attend this important
LIFE Nite on self-image. Not only will you learn about what's important, but
you'll learn about how God wants us to view ourselves.

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - BACK TO SCHOOL (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

As most of us settle in to our first week back to school, come join us for a
night of goal setting and affirmation activities! Sports in the gym will follow
for those who want to partake in other types of "goals." You like that one?

2009 LIFE TEEN SUMMER RETREAT DVD SET!

The 2009 Unstoppable Retreat DVDs are available at a special rate of only $10.
Part of the proceeds will go to fundraising for this year's retreat. Ask any
CORE Leader how you can get your own copy.

2010's is coming very soon and rumour has it that it will be completely
different from the one's from previous years.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST CLUB (VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY)!

We're on next Sunday! If you want to earn some valuable service hours for
school, meet your fellow parishioners and have some fun with your peers, show up
to one of the following shifts Sunday morning!

8:30 - 10:00 am
10:00 am to 11:30 am

There always seems to be a song that I associate with each LIFE TEEN Summer
Retreat. Several years ago it was "Heart of Worship." A few years ago it was
"Still." This past summer, the song for me was "How He Loves."

It only takes one song to open up many unforgettable moments at the LIFE TEEN
Summer Retreats. As mentioned a long time ago in one of these "send" messages,
music "chapters" your life so to speak. I was very happy and excited to hear
that the choir decided to include this song as a new addition to their line-up
beginning with last night's Mass.

Pull it up on You Tube. It's a great song!

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Still hot off the heels of last week's excitement of the LIFE TEEN Fall
Kick-Off, we continued LIFE Nites this past Sunday with a focus on self-image.
After a wacky icebreaker involving some Academy Award worthy acting, the rest of
the evening seemed to go by too quickly with a combination of slide shows, small
group discussions and reflections. Thanks to all who attended and especially to
those who shared so openly on what sometimes is a very touchy subject. Lastly,
don't forget your goal this week of affirming someone!

Speaking of affirmations, Tuesday night's Real PG was exactly about that as we
spent some time setting a goal for ourselves and affirming others. Again, this
was time well spent! Some intense volleyball in the gym followed.

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - THE 2010 RETREAT REUNION!

The 2010 Retreat Reunion! 2010 retreat goers, suffering from post-retreat
syndrome? Well fret no more! We'll be having our retreat reunion happening at
1:30 pm at the Parish Centre on Sept. 26. Didn't go to the retreat? No worries!
All teens are invited to join the celebration at 8:00 pm. Come and find out why
we all had an amazing time during the retreat!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - OUR SPIRITUAL IMAGE (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

With the help of scripture and guided meditation, we'll take some steps in
beautifying our spiritual image. No make-up or hair products are necessary!
Sports in the gym will follow!

Sometimes when we just have too much to do, it's best to get back to the basics.
If you're at school and a little bogged down or overwhelmed, just focus on what
you need to do immediately for the time being and nothing else. The report due
next week, exam after that and presentation next month will simply have to wait
until you get through the assignment due tomorrow. Likewise, for those working
folk, that tedious project will just have to wait until you finish those daily
tasks that just can't wait. If you spend time thinking about everything at once,
you're already wasting time.

I (and others) truly believe that God only puts in front of us what we can
handle. If you're unsure about this fact sometimes, take some time (only a
little is required) and listen to perhaps why He thinks you can handle what you
are currently faced with. You'll be glad you did.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

The chosen date for this year's LIFE TEEN Summer Retreat reunion finally arrived
on Sunday as we all gathered again one more time a month following the retreat
to re-live and discuss past retreat moments! Much of the day was spent
socializing through games, food and small group sharing. We were able to
catch-up on how school was treating everyone. That appeared to be the main topic
of discussion. Some other highlights from the afternoon/evening included
heartfelt testimonies and a cool video and slideshow. Thanks everyone for
gathering as a huge group once again. We'll do it all again in less than a year!

On Tuesday night, Real PG took a field trip over to Rooms 1 & 2 to join in a
prayer group where Father Justin was a guest speaker. It was certainly a treat
to be able to once again catch-up with Father Justin!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - TIME TO BE BOLD (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

Come learn about the beginnings of the early Church as the early disciples
learned to be Christians. We will also address the beauty in suffering for
Christ . Finally, you will have an opportunity to share your own journey with
others and hear the call to share the Good News!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SUPER SAINT SKITS (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

Are you ready for a simple yet fun Real PG? This Tuesday, we'll learn about a
few saints and then make some skits about them to solidify what we learn from
the night. Sports in the gym will follow!

It appears as if school is in full swing. The fun and excitement of catching-up
with friends, buying cool school supplies and finding out which classes you and
your friends are in is slowly giving way to the less fun part of late nights of
studying, endless piles of homework and long days spent at school.

The reality of all this is...that it's a reality. We all have to go through it.
As I've mentioned before though, it's important to keep everything in
perspective. I remember (eons ago) during high school that amidst everything
that I needed to go through in a tougher day, there was a nice comfortable bed
waiting for me by the end of it. It could surely get ugly before that point but
at the end of the day...I know there would be that bed waiting.

For some of you that may mean sleep! For others, that may mean some quality
conversation/listening time with God. Hopefully we all get some of this in
everyday even if our bodies are thinking of the former.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

On Sunday night, we learned a little about what went on with the early disciples
as they learned to be Christians. It was an exciting LIFE Nite that started off
with a short skit to give an idea of what early Christians went through. Through
discussions and prayovers, we were able to take on the challenge of being bold
Christians in our everyday lives!

On Tuesday night, we learned about different Saints and created skits to show
what we learned. Father Swann played an excellent Satan. Ask him to show you
sometime...

This week I have a Joshie story for you. He's really coming into his own in
terms of counting. It must be from his exposure to a real daycare. Just last
night he was going on and on. Here's a sample:

"One, two, three, four, five, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen,
fourteen, fiveteen..."

Ok, so he has a couple of kinks to iron out but that was good entertainment
value!

I'm not sure which Mass you were at on Sunday but Father Swann had a good homily
on the topic of happiness. Let me try and summarize and maybe add my own spin on
it.

Happiness is really about being content. When you are unhappy, it's usually
because you don't have something. Some examples could be a good job, a boyfriend
or girlfriend, a close family, a particular talent...the list goes on. The
culprit here is any combination of pride, greed, jealousy, envy...again the list
goes on.

The reality is we tend to dwell on things that make us unhappy so if we are
happy about 99% of the things going on in our lives, even that 1% we are unhappy
about can drive us nuts. I can safely say that for most people, there is more
things to be happy about than to be unhappy about. Our favorable living
conditions alone give us a huge jump start ahead of others on Earth.

Let's be thankful that we have so much to be happy about. Think about a few
things. It won't take you too long to stumble upon a few without even trying too
hard.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

It was a special LIFE Nite on Sunday as we were able to catch the last little
bit of the Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit at St. Paul's before it concluded. Not
only did we have a chance to check out the exhibit, but we also were very
fortunate to have Father Gabriel speak to the young people before we had a very
reflective and intimate Praise and Adoration session in the church. It was quite
the song line-up as we featured all reflective type songs...slow jam Christian
music, if you will.

On Tuesday night, we gathered together in Room 5 and prayed the Rosary as a
group.

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - THE FEAST (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

If you come out to this LIFE Nite, we'll help you understand that the story of
Salvation ends where it began—with God in heaven. Using the book of Revelation
as a basis, this night we'll show how the "heavenly banquet" is a vision of the
earthly Mass and how you are invited to participate now in preparation for
eternity.

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - PRAISE AND WORSHIP (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

Not only will we be doing some good ol' praise and worship to follow-up on
Sunday's LIFE Nite, but we'll also be breaking down the lyrics of some songs for
closer examination and reflection. Sports in the gym will follow!

It was a pleasure to have Father Gabriel speak about the importance of the Holy
Eucharist on Sunday night. In fact, Sunday night was a great Adoration session
for me personally. I'm sure having the opportunity to hand pick reflective 6:30
pm choir hits with fellow Core Leader Chris Estrella helped but it was just
something about Sunday night...

During Adoration, I was able to move closer to the Blessed Sacrament. Being
almost directly in front of it really makes a difference and did especially last
night. What's the difference? Picture a concert or your favorite sporting event.
Obviously the closer you get, the more expensive the tickets and the greater the
experience. Do you see what I'm getting at?

Sunday night reminded me of what my life is really about. Everything I do and
stand for was all there in front of me. It's connected to all facets of my life.
The Eucharist is what drives me and helps me persevere.

During Adoration, I felt a sense of peace and a strong sense to "surrender." The
evening made sense. We heard firsthand from Father Gabriel about his conversion,
were able to read about some Eucharistic miracles and finally, were able to
experience it. What more can you ask for to kick start a week?

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Teens were treated to a banner food LIFE Nite on Sunday evening as we ate and
discussed scripture passages from Revelation. Among the topics which came up
were salvation, dying and of course, Heaven. After absorbing lots of good
information and food, we headed over to the church for a period of journaling
and self-reflection. Thanks to all who came out!

On Tuesday night, a huge group of us gathered for some praise and worship! We
also were able to break into small groups for some discussion on particular song
lyrics before heading into the gym for some volleyball.

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - LIFE TEEN HALLOWEEN (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

Come join us for some Halloween fun, games and candy! Be sure to wear your
costumes and be creative as the person with the "best" costume (based on votes)
will be rewarded!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - THE EUCHARIST (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

Fresh off the Eucharistic Outreach Weekend, we'll be taking an in-depth look
into the early nature of the Eucharist. We'll be supplementing this with
historical research that you will surely find fascinating! Sports in the gym
will follow!

It's great to be Catholic. It's great to be good at a sport. It's great to get
top marks. It's great to be a standout citizen. It's great to be a great parent.
It's great to give to the poor. It's great to be honest. It's great to do good
work for others. All these things are great but does everyone need to know about
them all the time?

Sunday's Gospel (Luke 18-9-14) was about the tax collector and the Pharisee and
how the tax collector, although not a model citizen, turned out to be the
preferred and more humble one.

Have a read of Sunday's Gospel once again. It's a great reminder for all of us.
If you are blessed with something good, smile and be happy about it, see it as a
gift from God and perhaps that is as far as you need to go with it...

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

That may indeed be the shortest title for these weekly LIFE TEEN emails but
that's not important right now. What's important is that we talk about how it
was a great Halloween celebration on Sunday night! Along with lots of candy and
cool costumes, there was a bit of everything with some arts and crafts,
Pictionary and of course, trick o' treatin' in the parish centre. Congrats to
Kenzi Limtong for winning the costume contest!

On Tuesday night, Pete took us through a little bit of the history of the
Eucharist! Some of us stayed for sports in the gym afterwards. More exciting
Real PG is detailed below. Read on!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - 1+1+1=1 (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

We'll be introducing the semester on the Person of Christ at this LIFE Nite and
will also highlight the Trinity as the central mystery of the Christian faith!
We'll also be featuring some cool edible prizes and look at the Sign of the
Cross in a whole new way!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - ALL ABOUT ALL SOULS DAY (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

What exactly is All Souls Day? You'll have to come out to this Real PG to find
out! We'll be starting with Mass at 7:30 and then will be engaging in some very
informative and fun things aftewards and that's before we even step on the
volleyball court. Needless to say, sports in the gym will follow.

I think I've rekindled my love for Halloween through my kids. I had a great time
trick o' treatin' with the kids with some friends in a neighborhood in South
Surrey. Not only were kids and parents in full force crowding the streets but I
have never seen such fully decorated and involved houses. One house featured
people dressed as zombies roaming the driveway. I'm glad Joshie and Justin don't
associate that kind of stuff with fear just yet.

This year Joshie went out as Thomas the Tank Engine (surprise, surprise) and
Justin went out as a monkey with his hand-me-down monkey costume. It was a
beautiful evening. The recent (or not so recent) revised daylight saving time
schedule helped in this regard.

I think the best part is seeing Joshie all excited about his candy stash. He
even knew which ones are "forbidden" due to the presence of peanuts. I had to
quickly "take care" of those and was even caught by another parent during this
process. Being in the evening dark apparently doesn't hide everything!

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday night's LIFE Nite was all about the Trinity and the significance of the
Sign of the Cross! The night kicked off with a couple of icebreaker games with
the theme of "3." One featured candy bars as prizes and we ain't talking about
the mini Halloween size. After the icebreakers, teens were able to rotate
different stations to learn about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The evening
then ended with an explanation of the significance of the Sign of the Cross and
an associated closing prayer. Thanks to all teens who came out and congrats to
those multiple chocolate bar winners!

On Tuesday night, we talked about All Souls Day and also made some crafty
candles using our names and colorful paper. These candles contained and served
as our prayers for the souls in Purgatory.

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - LIFE TEEN COSMIC BOWLING (8:00 PM to 10:15 PM)!

It's been way too long since we've set foot on the beautiful lanes of Lois Lanes
so we'll be making a trip out there for this Sunday's LIFE Nite! Come on out,
bring $10 and prepare to have some bowling fun with your leaders and peers!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - LEO'S SCRIPTURE STUDY (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

Leo says let's get down to the basics and take a look at the readings for the
Sunday! We'll be breaking them down, seeing what they mean to us and sharing
our thoughts with each other. Sports in the gym will follow!

One small way we can all become evangelists is through boldly making the Sign of
the Cross in public.

By this, I don't mean getting into people's faces to do it or making a big scene
at city hall or whatever...but rather, just don't feel ashamed to do it in
public. Remember, the Sign of the Cross is a sign to everyone that you belong to
Christ and want to obey and are ready to accept suffering in His name. It's no
good luck charm (picture a cartoon character making the Sign of the Cross just
before jumping off a cliff). The next time you feel like concealing your Sign of
the Cross just before you say grace before a meal, think again.

There's a saying that goes something like "if you are ashamed of Him, He'll be
ashamed of us."

Make it a great week and God Bless!

We once again set foot on the Lanes of Lois (Lois Lanes) on Sunday night as it

I am currently enrolled with Joshie in Sportball. Sportball is a weekly Saturday
morning sport activity which exposes the child to all sorts of sports ranging
from volleyball to golf and everything else in between. It's only 45 minutes per
session but Joshie really looks forward to Saturday mornings. This is all part
of the master plan to have Joshie trained to become a professional athlete so
that Mom and Dad can retire early. Anyways, that's besides the point.

Two things I wanted to mention here:

One of them being how proud I was when Joshie was chosen to demonstrate for the
other kids. He simply had to chase after the instructed to "capture the flag"
but he did it without hesitation after another kid balked at the opportunity.
That was a whole new level of feeling proud. It was a special feeling and I hope
you all get to experience it one day.

The other one is about how we close each session. There's a chant and one line
goes "life is good." This always makes me think of how true that statement is
and how everything we have, often called life, is such a generous gift from God.
Indeed, life is good, whichever way you look at it.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday's LIFE Nite was our introduction to Advent. Much of the evening was spent
learning about what Advent is and why we must prepare for Christmas. One of the
highlights of the night was receiving our very own Advent Wreaths and writing
resolutions for each of the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas. After having a
chance to share our resolutions, we ended off the evening with some reflection
on related scripture, cool snacks and some hot chocolate to keep us warm for the
trip back home.

On Tuesday night, we prayed for lost souls using the Rosary and then played some
Bible Guesstures. Those clues were hard this week!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - BOTH AND (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

Did you know that Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully human? Thought so!
Are you able to recognize Jesus' humanity in Scripture and relate those
experiences to your own lives? If not, then this LIFE Nite is a must for you!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - MAKING OUR ADVENT CALENDARS (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

We'll be following up our introductory LIFE Nite on Advent with a Real PG where
we'll create our very own Advent calendars. Come to LIFE Nite and Real PG this
week for some very good exposure to Advent!

I had this work conference at work a few weeks ago and leading up to it, I was
pretty stressed. I wasn't a nervous wreck by any means but it was something that
was always sitting there in the back of my mind. Jenn can probably tell you
about the little ways she noticed. It was a lot of work and I had about 50
things to think about heading to that day.

Anyway, the more I prepared for the conference, the less stressed I became. This
was a good feeling and every day at work I would prepare more and more and get
less stressed. In fact, by the time the conference came, I wish I had more time
to prepare and feel even less stressed. I gather you are getting the idea by
about now.

Morale of the story: If you're stressed about something upcoming, prepare for it
and if you are still stressed, prepare more. Preparation works against stress.
This is a busy time of year on many fronts. There are projects and exams at
school and all the Christmas hoopla afterwards so arm yourself with these three
words as you head into the Christmas season: Prepare, prepare and prepare!

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday's LIFE Nite was about how God was both man and God. This could be tough
to visualize for many but hopefully the LIFE Nite helped teens in understanding
this. After a classic favorite of an icebreaker (Headbands), we watched a short
video, listened to some teachings and had an opportunity to reflect on some
scripture passages both individually and within small groups. We ended off the
night in fine fashion with some Adoration which is usually a great way to cap
off a night!

On Tuesday night, we created chain-link Advent calendars! Each link represented
a prayer intention for each day of Advent. There's no better way to ensure
everyone you want to pray for gets covered!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - DIS-STRESS (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

Let's take a look at the individual causes of stress in our lives! We'll help
you cope with and/or eliminate stress (and its sources) through a deeper
relationship with Jesus Christ at this very cool LIFE Nite!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - SCRIPTURE STUDY/CHRISTMAS PREP (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

We'll be doing more scripture study as we continue to prepare for Christmas in
this Advent season. Come out, learn a thing or two and let's continue to
strengthen that relationship with Jesus Christ! Sports in the gym will follow!

YOUTH MINISTRY SUNDAY ON DECEMBER 5.

Don't forget that the annual Youth Ministry Collection for the Archdiocese will
take place on the December 4 & 5 weekend at all parishes. The purpose of this
archdiocesan collection is to assist the work of the OYYAM in providing parish
youth ministry formation through training and support. As well, parishes with
active youth ministry programming will receive a rebate from this collection, as
long as they meet the following criteria:

a)Parish is pursuing a Comprehensive, parish-based vision of youth ministry.
b)Parish has sent, or is planning to send in the next calendar year, a
representative to Youth Ministry Seminars and other training offered by the
OYYAM; as well as representation at coordinators' meetings.
c)Parish is taking steps to educate and train appropriate personnel.

In a nutshell: the bigger the collection, the better it is for both you and us!

The 2009 Unstoppable Retreat DVDs are available at a special rate of only $10.

different from the ones from previous years.

It's amazing how busy we get during this time of year. In addition to finishing
up school projects and exams, there's all the preparation for Christmas,
ensuring sufficient family time is allotted, not to mention the abundance of
service projects that seem to creep up from all over the place. Just taking a
quick look at my calendar, I can see that there are no shortage of things going
on.

Stressed? I hear ya!

So what do you do?

You just write everything you need to do, organize and prioritize and put your
head down and do them starting with what you need to do in the short-term. If
you're still stressed, see last week's email. If you're stressed and you're a
teen, come to next Sunday's LIFE Nite and we'll show you a few tricks. We time
these things with a purpose :)

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday's LIFE Nite this week focused on the topic of stress in our lives and
healthy ways to deal with it. As the lingo goes, it was a very "chill night" by
design. See, I'm still hip.

Anyways, we began with lots of fun games and toys to get us relaxed and then
were hit hard with a stressful teaching. I'm kidding, the teaching was not
stressful at all. Rather, it talked about how we get stressed at times and how
we usually deal with it. We also did some small group sharing to further break
down the topic. The evening then ended off with some personal reflection on
stressful scripture passages or to explain more clearly, scripture passages that
were linked to the topic of stress.

On Tuesday night, we got the jump on the coming Sunday's readings by reading and
discussing carefully as a group and then played some badminton in the gym!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - CALL ME MOM (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

Come to this LIFE Nite and we'll show you how to see Mary as a living witness of
humility and faith. By the end of the night, you'll also understand Mary's role
in the Church and how she can be our spiritual mother! Don't miss out!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - ROSARY AND CHRISTMAS RAP (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

We'll be praying the Rosary and then reminiscing, discussing and sharing about
past Christmas'. Come on out and check out the list of questions we'll have to
discuss! Possible questions are: "What was your favourite Christmas gift?" or
"What was your most memorable Christmas dinner?" Sports in the gym will follow.

It's sad but sometimes I wonder if we have become too busy for God.

Let's face the facts: We've all become more occupied. We have more things going
on in our lives than our parents did when they were the same age. There are new
technologies, events, products that add to the laundry list of things that
occupy time in our lives. We have the ability to be close to more friends with
less effort. We are expected to do more with less time. We didn't have email,
text and internet on our phones not too long ago. Heck, I'm dating myself here,
but malls weren't even open on Sundays!

I'm not saying that we need to make drastic changes. Well, not for most of you
at least. What I am saying is that we must not lose sight of God working in our
lives. We must continually strive to give Him time at the expense of other
things that make us busy. Some of those things you might even enjoy and would
find it hard to cut back or cut out but the reminder and challenge remain.
Regardless, the Christmas season is always a good time to keep this in mind.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday's LIFE Nite was all about Mary and we ain't talking about the Core Leader
either. After a really fun icebreaker to do with nicknames of current Core
Leaders, we learned a little more about Mary through teachings, friendly "Mary
trivia" and in-depth small group discussions. Special thanks to Mrs. Chua for
her heartfelt testimony and thanks to all teens for coming out to the final LIFE
Nite of 2010 before our annual Christmas social which you can read more about
below!

Tuesday night was also a blast as we prayed the Rosary together before sharing
our favorite Christmas memories and stories with each other. Read below for this
week's Real PG which is something completely different!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - LIFE TEEN CHRISTMAS (8:00 PM to 9:30 PM)!

You won't want to miss the final LIFE Nite of 2010 as we celebrate Christmas in
LIFE TEEN style! We'll be singing, eating and socializing at this annual
special event. All parents, teens and families are welcome!

I think "letting go" is one of our greatest challenges while also one of the
luxuries and most important things we can do being followers of Christ.
Personally, I feel blessed to know God and to have Him as someone I can pray and
speak to literally anytime I want. If you think about it, there's nothing we
really can't handle with God at our side almost like our safety net. If you feel
stressed, pray to God. Going through a difficult time emotionally? Speak to God
about it. After doing so, you will be in a better situation. The proof, as they
say, my friends, is in the pudding.

On a side note, I had a little problem letting go just before writing this
message. I was looking for a battery tester to test some batteries that were
just lying around the house. I looked high and low and pretty much turned the
house upside-down but in the end, just couldn't find it. In fact, after a while,
it became a personal challenge for me to find it. Then after thinking about it
later, perhaps I should have "let go" a little earlier. Is it really that
important? No siree, Bob.

Did I mention "letting go" takes practice?

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday's LIFE Nite was all about partying as we held our annual LIFE TEEN
Christmas party. Parents, former Core Leaders and of course, teens all took part
in a variety of games, gingerbread church making with Father Swann as judge,
caroling and last but not least, the food! Special thanks to all who brought
food to share. It was a great night of fellowship and a special treat to see all
the senior teens who won't be joining us at LIFE Nites come the New Year.

Tuesday night was something completely different from the norm for Real PG as we
attended the St. Paul's School Christmas Celebration. Real PGs are back for one
more time (see below) before we take a brief Christmas break.

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - NO LIFE!

We'll be taking our first of two Sundays off from LIFE Nites during the
Christmas break. This will give you some added time to spend with your friends
and family! See you January 9th!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - CHRISTMAS CAROLS AT REAL PG (7:30 PM to 9:00 PM)!

We'll be taking some last steps to really get into the Christmas spirit.
Confessions are available in the church and we'll be caroling in Room 5 as the
countdown to Christmas continues!

SPIRIT BOTTLE DRIVE - JANUARY 9TH - 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

SPIRIT will be holding their annual bottle drive fundraiser on January 9! Please
support them by dropping off empty drink containers (pop cans and bottles, juice
boxes, alcoholic beverages, NO milk products). Please, no late drop-offs. Thank
you for your support!

This being the last LIFE TEEN email of 2010, I'm feeling like it should be a
summary/forecast type of send message so I have pasted my article from the
latest LIFE TEEN Newsletter. And no, in case you were even thinking of going
there, this is by no means a cop-out type of send message!

I've decided to keep it simple and break up the article into two parts: "2010"
and "2011." Here goes nothing:

2010

It's been a banner year in LIFE TEEN Land. It was the year of the Olympics and
some memorable moments come to mind. The first one was Real PG making a visit
to the Minoru track for Olympic festivities. It was an unbelievable "once in a
lifetime" experience that will likely never happen again at a Real PG. Many of
our teens and young adults were present at the festivities. In fact, we were
just steps from the main stage! It was an amazing memorable evening. In the
spirit of the 2010 Winter Olympics, we also held a LIFE Nite based on Olympic
events appropriately titled LIFE TEEN Winter Olympics!

Knack was once again excellent this year with a large contingent of the acts
showcasing teen talent (as opposed to young adult talent). Many of the acts
were of the singing/music variety. It was a great night of talent and I was
very proud of the teens who took time to practice and perform. Thanks to many
of the Core Leaders who encouraged teens to perform. Some even joined them in
their acts!

March Madness (the annual basketball challenge against the Knights) this year
was a wash. I hope the message somehow gets to the Knights that they need to up
their talent level this year. In order to treat spectators to a night of
entertainment and excitement, we have to showcase a competitive game. The
Knights have got to "bring it" in 2011. We'll see what happens this year.
Haha. This paragraph is half sarcastic and half not. Take it as you will.

We also held a cool scavenger hunt in Steveston this year. Teens were scattered
all over the village and Garry Point beach in search of answers (pictures) for a
list of clues! Most of the hunt involved taking pictures so hopefully we didn't
disturb too many Steveston retail tenants.

There were many great memories from 2010 but the highlight of the year has to be
the 2010 LIFE TEEN Summer Retreat. Not only did Summit Park offer new
facilities for us to use, we shattered a program record in terms of attendance
this time requiring an unprecedented two buses from our friends at Charter Bus
Lines. Although we were large, we were just as efficient as previous years
thanks to the planning, organization and execution of retreat coordinators
Cecilia Ramirez and Oggy Luistro. It was a retreat to remember and one that saw
many new ideas and changes introduced. Simply typing this has me excited for
2011's already!

Chris, when's that video coming out?

2011

Looking ahead a bit, 2011 looks to be another exciting year. To kick things
off, we are looking to feature Think Fast from March 25-26 after taking a little
break. Think Fast, of course, is Canadian Catholic Organization for Development
and Peace's (CCODP's) 25 hour education and fundraising fast. Through awareness
and fundraising, we hope to make a small difference in the lives of those in
developing countries. If you are interested in being a part of this, start
talking it up with your Core Leaders! Some highlights include lots of fun and
games, a night at the parish centre and a fantastic dinner on the Saturday
evening.

In addition to the yearly favorites such as Knack, March Madness and a good dose
of NO LIFEs (I'm kidding), this year will feature a special Valentine's Day rap,
an awesome games night and some cool improv in addition to other events which
will remain a mystery to you right now!

Getting back to the topic of retreat and the highlight of the LIFE TEEN year,
I'm confident the retreat will once again be a hit. As a start, Summit Park
should have their new huge soccer field ready to go, we'll likely make more use
of the new classrooms/facilities and who knows, maybe we'll even need a third
bus.

Make it a great week and God Bless, Merry Christmas and see you on the other
side!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Happy New Year on behalf of the Core Leaders at St. Paul's LIFE TEEN! I hope you
all had a restful Christmas break and are ready to get back into the swing of
things as we head into the first day back at school.

Chances are, on a given day, we are bound to run into that person that just rubs
us the wrong way. Maybe it's someone on the cell phone, not paying attention to
their careless driving. Or it could be someone you just can't get along with at
school no matter how accommodating you try to be. Or maybe it's a customer that
is particularly rude to you while you are at work.

Whatever it is, it can probably be outweighed by all the good things that happen
(or good people you run into) on a given day. We just come to expect things to
be good or favorable and that's perhaps why we don't value them or pay attention
to them as much as we should. When something bad or negative happens to us, we
notice because we don't expect to have bad things happen to us. That's just how
we humans roll.

The next time things just don't go your way, take time out and think about all
the other times things actually went your way!

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

We were back at it on Sunday night with our first LIFE Nite of the young year.
It was a games night comprising, charades, Mad Gab, Outburst and Pictionary.
Teens rotated around the Parish Centre playing different board games until the
mother of all games which was a dual sided grand game of Bible Pictionary!
Everyone appeared to have lots of fun and the level of competition...let's just
say it was more than adequate!

There was no Real PG this week but don't have a cow man, as we're back on this
Tuesday. Please see below!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES AND TOES (8:00 pm to 9:30 pm)!

So why did Jesus Christ establish the Church? What are the differences between
faith and religion? What role do we play in the Body of Christ? These are
three very good questions which will be answered in detail on this exciting LIFE
Nite! Come out and be enlightened!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION POETRY!

We're going to set some New Year's Resolutions for ourselves and then set them
into stone by making them into poems. Whether it be a haiku, limerick or
something else, you'll have yourself a catchy, easy to remember resolution by
the end of the night before sports in the gym begins!

I'm not sure where or at what age people learn particulars in life such as
reverse psychology and sarcasm but Joshie appears to have caught the drift, at
least a little.

Joshie, as with many kids around his age (and even some adults), enjoys being
chased. I believe it's the thrill of it all. All it takes for me to get things
started is to simply say "I'm gonna get you!" Then he usually responds with
"don't catch me" and takes off. That's where the reverse psychology comes in.
Neither Jenn nor I have demonstrated any sort of reverse psychology with him
around. Perhaps he picked it up from school. Who knows...

The funny part is that I'll give him a tougher time sometimes by answering "Ok,
I won't catch you" to his dismay and slight confusion. Don't worry. I end up
chasing him again after a little chuckle.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday's LIFE Nite was all about how the Church is the People that God gathers
in the whole world. It's not the priest, building, cross or whatever else you
might think it is. It's the people! It's us! We all make up the church!

We all had a great time learning more about this fact through fun games, skits
and small group discussions. We ended off the evening with prayer intentions for
people in our lives we feel need Christ's presence. Thanks to all those teens
who came out especially those with exams on Monday morning!

Real PG also made a huge return last Tuesday as we started off the year right by
praying the Rosary and getting a little active with sports in the gym.

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS (8:00 pm to 9:30 pm)!

Come to this LIFE Nite and we'll help you realize both the power of words and
the ripple effects that negative or unnecessary statements have on others. We'll
be digging deep and addressing the roots of gossip that lead to sin.

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS RELOADED!

It's a New Year, and we have New Year's resolutions and a great way to follow up
on them is to pray for them. But more than that, there are so many things that
need our prayers and need praying for. Come on out and let's start off the year
right. Sports in the gym will follow!

So we are thinking about possibly hosting a THINKfast again this year on the
weekend of March 25-26 after a short hiatus. The most important thing for a
THINKfast is the teen participants. If there are no teens, there's really no
Think Fast. I mean, what's the point of a few leaders starving together in the
parish centre for 25 hours, right?

What is THINKfast you ask? I'll quote directly from the website:

THINKfast! is a great fundraising and education activity – used in parishes,
schools and universities – to support Development and Peace partners around the
world and to play, pray and be together in hope for a new world.

We will be staying overnight in the parish centre and will be partaking in an
array of activities that will make the 25 hours go by before you know it. To cap
off fast, we have a grand potluck dinner to replenish all those calories we've
been cutting back on. The whole experience is both enlightening and a lot of
fun.

This year's topic is bottled water so it's very relevant and a part of our daily
lives. You will definitely learn a thing or two.

So what happens now? Well, I'd love to hear from you if you're at all interested
in attending THINKfast this year. We will then decide whether it's something you
guys want for this year.

Make it a great week and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Gossip is unfortunately very much a part of our lives and on Sunday night, we
tackled this very issue and also took home with us some ways we can better
handle it.

After much gossip about Rich Chen's Facebook post, it was clarified that it was
indeed simply a post about one of Nelly Furtado's early hits. Other ideas that
came up were Rich leaving LIFE TEEN, joining Clay at OYYAM and even ditching
youth ministry to pursue a body building/modeling career (no, I did not make
this one up). All of these were, of course, untrue.

The remainder of the evening featured some good small group discussions, a video
and a nice portion of the night in the church where we had a chance to reflect
and pray over each other.

Real PG in 2011 continued with our New Year's Resolution Real PG featuring paper
planes!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - KNOT MY FAMILY (8:00 pm to 9:30 pm)!

Come view yourselves and your families from a different perspective from that of
our parents and siblings and be prepared to be enlightened as to the effects
your attitude and approach have on others within the family at home and within
the family of faith!

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - THE NARROW DOOR (7:30 pm to 9:00 pm)!

Through a guided meditation we will be investigating the closets of our own
bedrooms, gather our possessions, and carry those belongings through a series of
narrow doors. We will be praying and reflecting together on the Gospel's
message of simple living. Come to this prayer groups to learn how we can
actively simplify our lives.

The issue of gossiping can be very confusing at times.

When potentially gossiping, are you simply talking about someone with good
reason and perhaps out of concern or is it more because you just want to start a
juicy conversation piece with some friends and have nothing better to talk
about? Gossip is tempting. It's addictive and its effects are downright
damaging. What's more, is that we sometimes try and reason our way into thinking
it's ok.

So what can we do or how can we check ourselves? There are two things we
suggest:

1) You should really think about the motive of the conversation. What is the
true purpose? Can it be damaging? If there's no purpose, then perhaps it's not
necessary?

2) You can always apply the Golden Rule of "Do unto others as you would have
them do unto you" and then it should be pretty clear how you should proceed.

There, in a nutshell, is your way to steering clear of gossip.

Make it a great week, stop gossiping and God Bless!

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday night was all about the relationships with different members of our
families. After some spirited Family Feud with family-oriented topics, a skit
(with a lot of pink Asian bakery string) illustrating the communication between
different family members took place before teachings, a cool video and a deep
send exercise featuring prayer-overs, letter writing and one-on-one time with
Core Leaders. Thanks to all teens who attended and learned a bit more about
communication within the family.

Real PG last week featured some good discussions and a guided-meditation in
comfy Room 7 to get us into the mood. Get ready to get creative this week! See
below for more details!

NEXT SUNDAY'S LIFE NITE - CONNECTED (8:00 pm to 9:30 pm)!

What is prayer and why do we need a prayer life? We'll be using the Lord's
Prayer as a starting point and learn the importance of prayer as a foundation of
your relationship with God.

TUESDAY'S REAL PG - PRAYER POSTCARDS (7:30 pm to 9:00 pm)!

The family is a funny thing. For those of you paying attention at last night's
LIFE Nite, one point was clearly evident: Our family members see the "real us."

The "real us" can be everything from our "singing in the shower" to our
"reserved for at-home only" dance moves. It can also be our ugly side during
cranky mornings or maybe less than favorable language reserved only for the
privacy of our own homes.

Regardless of what it is, the point is that we don't have as much of a filter
when it comes to interacting with our family members because we know they will
always be there and love us no matter how we treat them or what we do. Call it
unconditional love that's sometimes abused.

Unfortunately, because of this, family relationships can be more difficult at
times and can hit the "extremes." The point of all this? It's simply to raise
awareness to the fact that, regardless of their nature, our relationships
between family members need just as much tender loving care as other
relationships. Keep this in mind and communication and understanding will surely
be on the upswing in your homes.

Make it a great week, work on those family relationships and God Bless!

So we packed the kids in the car and went Downtown on Saturday evening to scope
out the lunarfest event going on. Although we didn't manage to go in (partly due
to the long line-ups and candid feedback from people exiting), this send message
has nothing really to do with lunarfest at all.

Anyways, we decided to go to Red Robin for dinner and afterwards, it was a
lengthy walk back to the car. Joshie was either lazy or tired and asked to be
carried. Although it was physically impossible for me to do that (I'd rather do
something else crazy like jog home), I felt that I really wanted to. And believe
me, it wasn't because he was exactly an angel that day either. In fact, I'd
venture as far to say that he was a little high on the crankiness scale at that
time, if you know what I mean.

The point is I really wanted to (I mean, I really wanted to) and I guess that's
how unconditional love feels and that's very much what it is. I wanted to do it
because it was Joshie and I love him very much and would do anything for him.
Parenthood has taught me more than a few things, one of them being greater
appreciation for unconditional love which, fortunately for us, is always
available to us from Jesus Christ. Whenever I look at it this way, it always
makes me want to be a good little boy in God's eyes.

Make it a great week, be good little girls and boys and God Bless!

What is the deal with Valentine's Day? I'm not talking so much about what's the
big deal about it but what's with it getting a bad rap?

Sure...Valentine's Day is an excuse for restaurants and flower shops jacking up
prices and sure...you should show love for your loved ones every day of the year
and not especially on one day; however, I think there's more to the purpose of
Valentine's Day: It reminds us to show love and gratitude to our loved ones.

It's like a New Year's Resolution. Technically, you can make them any time in
the year. Try the first of the month, your birthday the start of a school
year...you name it, why not? Regardless, many end up making resolutions just
before New Year's Day. It's a reminder time for us. The same could be applied to
Valentine's Day. Sure, we shouldn't only love on one day but it's a reminder for
the rest of the year or as long as the reminder will take us.

So don't say "bah humbug" to Valentine's Day. Be reminded of how we should be
men and women of love in this sometimes dark and trying secular world.

Make it a great week, show love to one another and God Bless!
