Howdy!
I am working on a series of articles exploring Rover Quests, and my
readings make references to sources which I do not have, and have
not been able to find.
So I am asking the group...
Does anyone have a copy of:
- Rover Quests in Practice
- Hints on Questing for Rovers (by B-P I think)
I am also looking for the original source of "The Ten Quests of
Rovering" as the versions I have are "adapted by" and do not provide
the original source.
If you do have one of these references, would you be able to scan
the book, or perhaps photocopy it for me (and I will pay you the
cost of copying/postage), or a copy which I could borrow?
I am also looking for "Running a Rover Crew" but that is for general
interest, and therefore, at this point, not as urgent as the others.
Any help you can provide in finding these texts would be greatly
appreciated. I look forward to hearing some some of you very soon.
You can reply to me privately if you wish at outpost_8@...

Make money in the easiest way, why don't you get it?
Comments
GET RICH FAST AND EASY!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A SCAM!! Make ALOT of
MONEY a VERY FUN WAY!!! :-) HOW TO TURN $6 INTO $6,000!!!!!! READING
THIS
COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE! I found this on a bulletin board and decided
to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups,
just
like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that
said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an
initial
investment of $6.00! So I thought, Yeah right, this must be a
scam, but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway,
it said
that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the
article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of
the
list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There
are thousands) No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and
talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured:
what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right? Then I
invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!... within 7 days, I
started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would
end
soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made
about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of
over
$1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still
growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just
over
$42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth
$6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the lottery!!
Let me
tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works....Also,
make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the
information off of it as you need it. I promise you that if you
follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money
than you
thought possible by doing something so easy! Suggestion: Read this
entire message carefully! (print it out or download it.) Follow the
simple
directions and watch the money come in! It's easy. It's legal. And,
your investment is only $6.00 (Plus postage) IMPORTANT: This is not
a
rip-off; it is not indecent; it is not illegal; and it is virtually
no risk - it really works!!!! If all of the following instructions
are
adhered to, you will receive extraordinary dividends. PLEASE NOTE:
Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be
yours
in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of the
honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue its
success by
carefully adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of
the Mail Order business. In this business your product is not solid
and
tangible, it's a service. You are in the business of developing
Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks
for quality
lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary
to the income which is made from people like you and me asking to be
included in that list. Here are the 4 easy steps to success: STEP 1:
Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece
of
paper;PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST. Now get 6 US $1.00 bills
and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will
not be
seen through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Next, place one
paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have
6 sealed
envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your
name and address, and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a
service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate
service and you are paying for it! Like most of us I was a little
skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So
I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they
confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the
following addresses: #1) Marlon Forside 9111 Reagan Meadow Court
Houston, Tx 77064 #2) Ken Blackburn 69272 Warren Cutrer Road
Kentwood, LA 70444 #3) Tyler Chapman 27539 Woerner Road Elberta, AL
36530 #4) Amanda Mansfield 2609 Pinewood Dr. Madera, Ca. 93637 #5)
Brian Donlan 11 Wexwood Ct. Stafford, Va. 22554 #6 Mathieu
Constantin 1229 Palardy, st-bruno-de-montarville, Qc, Canada, J3V
3P4.
STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move
the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc...) and add YOUR
Name as
number 6 on the list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try
to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post
your
amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close
to 24,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you
post,
the more money you make! This is perfectly legal! If you have any
doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal lottery
laws. Keep
a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money, you
can use it again, and again. PLEASE REMEMBER that this program
remains
successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants
and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at it this
way.
If you are of integrity, the program will continue and the money
that so many others have received will come your way. NOTE: You may
want to
retain every name and address sent to you, either on a computer or
hard copy and keep the notes people send you. This VERIFIES that you
are
truly providing a service. (Also, it might be a good idea to wrap
the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.) So, as
each
post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed, six
members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List
Developer with one
dollar each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that
when your name reaches the #1 position you will be receiving
thousands of
dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for
each of the first six people listed above) Send it now, add your own
name to
the list and you're in business! ---------DIRECTIONS ----- FOR HOW
TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS------------ Step 1) You do not need to re-type
this
entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the
beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this
document, and select 'copy' from the edit menu. This will copy the
entire letter into the computer's memory. Step 2) Open a
blank 'notepad'
file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From
the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will paste a copy of the letter
into
notepad so that you can add your name to the list. Step 3) Save your
new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in
different settings, you'll always have this file to go back to. Step
4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various
newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites,
discussions.) (Just example you log on any search engine like
yahoo.com,google.com,altavista.com,excite.com then you search with
this subject ?millionaire message board? or ?money making message
board?
or ?employment message board? or ?money making discussions? or ?
money making forum? or ?business message board? etc. You will find
thousand &
thousand message board. Step 5) Visit these message boards and post
this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this
letter and
selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will
be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of
postings in a particular group, click the post message button.
You're done with your first one! Congratulations...THAT'S IT! All
you have to
do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the
hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup!
**REMEMBER,
THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT
YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That's it! You will begin
receiving
money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to
rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If
you
wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the
postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE
CORRECT.** Now the WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I receive only
5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at
#6
on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00
make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5
persons
respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me,
now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only
5
replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125
persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and
only
receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $626.00! OK, now
here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200
letters
with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just
made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this
message to
200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200
newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an original
investment of
only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you
just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another
$6.00
to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start
posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that
thousands
of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading
these articles everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford
$6.00
and see if it really works?? I think so... People have said, "e;what
if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what!
What
are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest
users and new honest people who are joining the internet and
newsgroups
everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000
to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the
actual
internet. Remember: play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really
work. Good Luck to you all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greetings all Rovers out there!

In a surprise presentation at Looney Tunes Moot 2004, in front of his
Crew and fellow Rovers, Ryan "JYNX" Jenkins was honoured as
the latest recipient of the Roland S. Dell Memorial Award. This
award has been presented annually since 1982 to individuals and
groups who have striven to provide such a level of service that even
within a community of service-committed people, their peers cannot
help but be inspired.
Here are some key points from the nomination, which the Judging
Committee felt that Ryan deserved to be the 2003 recipient of the
award.
Ryan has been participating in Scouting since he was 5 years old. As
a Beaver, Cub, Scout, Venturer and then a Rover, he gained a deep
understanding of Scouting and its principles. Early on, he sought
to give something back to the Movement by volunteering with the
Cubs. Ryan became one of the first 18-year olds who earned his
Woodbadge Part I and II as soon as he met the age requirements.
When Ryan left Toronto to attend university, two major things
happened in his Rovering career. He became more active in Rovering
at the Provincial level. Volunteering as the Email Administrator for
the Ontario Rover Council (ORC), and then as the Vice-Chair
(Program), Ryan has helped individuals and Crews across Ontario
develop their program and stay informed.
The other big event was that Ryan helped organize the University of
Waterloo Rover Crew (UWRC). Formed in October 1996, this Crew takes
into account that many university students often can't make the
weekly time commitment to regular crews, and that most Rovers drop
out of the program when attending post-secondary schools away from
home. The UWRC plans its activities around its members'schedule,
and works around exams, assignments and night-classes. Ryan received
the Gold Questor Award for his part in starting up the Crew.
JYNX doesn't spend his time just volunteering with Scouting. He
has devoted many hours to the University of Waterloo Math Society
(MathSoc), and volunteered as a Frosh leader, Office Manager and Pink
Tie Guard. The Pink Tie is the unofficial symbol of the Math
Faculty, and there is 40-foot tie displayed during Orientation Week
each year. The Tie Guard is responsible for ensuring the Pink Tie is
protected from practical jokes, and act as a central information
point for incoming math students.
This year, Ryan has signed on as an assistant Rover Advisor to the
Crew he helped found. Ryan is a well-known, well-respected
individual in the Rovering Community. He is deeply committed to
philosophy of Service and helping others. Many Rovers and Advisors
know him as a solid, reliable individual that they can always count
on.
As a recipient of the R.S. Dell Award, Ryan received a keeper plaque
and a $100 donation will be made on his behalf to a charity of his
choice. Ryan has asked that the donation be made to the United Way
of Halton Hills. Thanks to the Dell family for providing the funds
for this year's donation.
Do you know someone who has rendered exceptional service to Scouting
and to their community? Why not nominate them for this award? The
nominated party must be a Rover, Rover Advisor, or Crew currently
registered with Scouts Canada in Central Canada. Anyone may submit
a nomination for the award, and all nominations will stand for three
years. Nominations must be mailed by December 31st to
R.S. Dell Memorial Award, c/o 120 Ottawa Street North, P.O. Box

Sorry for any confusion.
Thanks.
Albert.
Do you know a Rover, Advisor or Crew who has rendered exceptional
service to Rovering, Scouting and to their community? Why not
nominate them for the R.S. Dell Award?
This award has been presented annually to individuals and groups who
have striven to provide such a level of service that even within a
service-minded community, their peers cannot help but be inspired.
Roly Dell, of 1st Niagara, devoted himself to Scouting, Rovering and
his community for over thirty years, and this award has been
presented in his memory since 1982. Roly's sense of commitment,
honour, dignity, and service has been regarded as a model for
innumerable men and women.
In the past, the Ontario Rover Community (ORC) has administered this
award. With that body's dissolution, I have been asked by the
Dell
family to help administer the award on their behalf.
Anyone may submit a nomination for the award. All nominations stand
for three years from the date they are received. The nominated party
must be a Rover, Rover Advisor, or Crew currently registered with
Scouts Canada in Central Canada Division.

Hey there Valerie, thanks for the reply. Sorry about the late reply
on my end!
We've certainly been to Impeesa, as well as Tobermory,
Pinery/Attawandaron, etc. Fabulous places indeed! Flowerpot Island
was one of our haunts a few weeks ago. When I think of all of the
great trips our advisors here in Tecumseh organized or supported, it
boggles the mind.
Thanks for the offer for the jailbreak moot; it looked like a heck of
a lot of fun; however most of us were caught up in the recent
election campaign - one of our members ran.
Diane is no longer the skip out here, but she's as involved as ever.
I'll be certain to tell her you said hi the next opportunity I have.
Happy camping to you as well; to the other listmates, if you have any
questions relative to the Windsor area (including Scouting, of
course!), be certain to let me know and I'll try to answer as best as
I can.
YiS,

To all interested Rover, Venturers, Rangers and Advisors.....
I'm currently trying to resolve a problem with Scouts Canada which has a big impact on the future - Barry Hardaker HAS sent me a letter telling us to cease publication. I'm attempting to set up a face-to-face meeting to resolve this - hopefully in an amiable manner. If the order is not rescinded, I'm not sure what we'll do in the long run.
I don't want to jeopardize anyone's standing with Scouts Canada over this issue (including my own), but I really don't want to shut down the magazine. Keep your fingers crossed, In the meantime, I'd appreciate keeping this in low profile - no need to get the administration of Scouts Canada riled up more than necessary. As it is, I'm asking all of our supporters NOT to do any future postings on this topic. (I'm not sure how the word got out, but rumors are spreading fast).
Also, I'd appreciate passing the word on about a lot profile, and if you have any notices, links, etc. concerning the magazine, refer all questions and correspondence to our email address canadian_rover@... and forget about the Canada Post address in Kitchener - it no longer exists.
I'd love to see a lot of our supporters show up at the CCRRT meeting in Udora. Rovers need to speak their piece, and I've had a lot of positive comments coming in, despite the fact that there has been no official word out about this problem.
I received this message from the Scoutscan-l list. I find it
upsetting and don't understand why this would happen (if true)
Can anyone confirm this? I would figure I'd hear about this from
fellow Rovers or from this list.
Quote:
Barry Hardacker, grand all mighty pooh-bah with Central Division has
sent a letter to the producers of 'The Canadian Rover Eh?,' magazine
informing them that if they do not hand over all funds and cease and
desist printing by November the first, they will face legal action.
The thing is that the magazine is not owned by SC, so why should they
get a cent? Also, they give no reason for shutting the magazine down.
They say that the Leader gives all the information needed, nevermind
that the Leader is for leaders, and the Canadian Rover Eh? isn't. On
top of all that, they what authority do they have over the magazine,
it dosen't carry their logo, and it's pretty clear that it isn't
published by SC... How low can they go? Wait, we're talking about SC
here, so I guess no limits...

camp impeesa near ayr and drumbo is really nice, it's a scout camp
in brant district, or a least what used to be brant district.
if you don't mind the drive, tobermory is absolutely beautiful.
there is a national park there that has part of the bruce trail in
it, with some great spots right on georgian bay for climbing. they
have group sites for camping as well as individual sites. cyprus
lake i think it's called
pinery provincial park just south of grand bend is good, although
haven't been there in years. there is also a scout camp adjacent to
it, camp attawanderon, that is supposed to be nice. i believe that
is a sarnia area camp.
that's all i have for now. is diane still an advisor down there?
say hi to her for me if she is. i used to be in 35th tecumseh a
very long time ago, when kookie was the advisor. now i'm the
advisor for 1st strathroy. anyway happy camping,
valerie
btw, there is jailbreak moot in niagara falls at the end of october,
i could get more info for you if you are interested.
Hi there,
I'm writing in from the Windsor area, and soliciting your help. I'd
like to plan a "great" camping trip for my crew over a weekend
sometime this fall. A 5-hour drive is probably the boundary for
driving.
Basically I'm interested in hideouts... getaways... great camping
opportunities that most people don't know about. Provincial Parks,
Conservation Areas, Scout Camps, you name it, I'm all ears.
Please give me a shout at editedfortv@... if you have someplace
in mind. Thanks a lot!

We've had a few new members added over the summer. I'd like you all
to welcome them as we move into another Scouting year.
Did someone say Party? When you know about a party, moot, dance or
other event that may intrigue other members of this site, don't
hesitate in posting a message about it. Some of us (especially
myself) are alot less connected than we used to be and want to know
what's up.
