I have the 1980 transom setup. Yes it opens up the cockpit area, but I have also been in a couple of center sheeted sirens and a few more crusing sailboats

mainsheet setup
Hello Fellow Siren owners, My mainsheet is attached to the cockpit floor, I've seen pictures of them set up on the transom, thus creating a more open cockpit
