Ok, Saturday afternoon I tuned into 88.9 Cirv FM for about 5 minutes as they broadcast from the annual Summerfest celebration in Toronto. I heard the usual political figures give their speeches about 'good, hard-working people with immigrant dreams and how much Canada welcomes them," yada yada yada.
But, the most annoying politician of them all, Tony Ruprecht MPP, added something slightly different this time... he was going on and on about how the Portuguese should rejoice and be happy because afterall we are a "happy people." Supposedly, he added, according to a recent survey "they" did, the Portuguese were the "third happiest people in the world."
Did anyone else hear his speech? Is there any credibility to what he said? Or, was that just more of the usual nonsense that spews out of his mouth?
Every global happiness ranking survey I've ever read always places Portugal in the middle of the world pack, and usually among the least happy in Europe, sadly. Google it yourself.
Be Happy,
Tony
