NAME, PERGAMOS ("Per" and "gamos" in Greek), MEANS "ELEVATED TO MARRIAGE" OR "BIGAMY/POLYGAMY"
THIS MEANING INDICATES THE MARRIAGE OF THE CHURCH TO THE WORLD.
As I look at our condition and the Church (and city) of Pergamos, much is is in common.
Aesculapius is one of the main deities worshipped. He is the god of healing. his staff has two snakes wrapped up. The same is also held by the priests in the orthodox church (I'm not sure if the Catholic priests bear it, but I know the priests in the Armenian orthodox church do and they don't explain us the significance).
Today's most popular evangelicalism is Benny Hinn and the Word of Faith movement where his shows are televised and his supposed mission is to "heal" people. People come on the stage, Benny Hinn prays for them and "heals" them. Although I can't prove you but I've heard that he secretly worships Aesculapius.
Bacchus is the other deity worshipped. He is the god of wine and revelry. And look at hollywood and the music industry. How actors and singers convert to Christ by name but keep their dirty roles.
Revelation 2
12And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; 13I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. 14But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 15So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate. 16Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Verse 14 shows the dirty acts of those who profess to be Christians but continue their Bacchus-type lifestyle. Balaam taught Balac to bring women in the camp of Israel to have sex with the Israelites so that God's anointing would depart from them:
Numbers 25 1And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. 2And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. 3And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
To this generation Christ promises:
16Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
At Christ's coming all seven churches' promises will be fulfilled (Revelaiton 19).
At one time the city of Pergamos housed one of the greatest libraries in the world, consisting of more than 200,000 volumes. After the great library at Alexandria, Egypt was destroyed by fire, Marc Antony plundered the library of Pergamos and sent the books to Cleopatra to replace the lost volumes.
Pergamos was also home of one of the world's greatest artistic treasures, the Altar of Zeus. Many scholars believe this altar was what Jesus referred to when He said that Pergamos was the home of "Satan's throne" (Rev. 2:13). This altar can now be seen at Pergamun Museum in Berlin, Germany.
The largest building in Pergamos is the theater on the acropolis of the city. The theater was built into the hill and could seat 20,000 people. It is said that the acoustics of the theater were so good that no one would have any difficulty in either hearing or seeing anything that happened on stage. Above the theater is the Temple to Trajan and Hadrian.
Southwest of the city was the medical center, the Asclepion, with its temple to the god of medicine, Asclepius. The famous physician, Galen, was born in Pergamos.
I found this site as I was researching. I had read before that the Babylonian priesthood ( astrologers, magi, soothsayers... as mentioned in the book of Daniel in the bible ) escaped to Asia minor, now known as Turkey, in the city of Pergamos when the Medo-Persians invaded Babylon. Pergamos was judged by Christ as "Satan's seat" in Revelation 2 in the bible.
The priesthood afterwards moved to Rome and out of that the Roman Catholic emerged.
Was Alexander held captive by the power of the Chaldean religion? Again according to Barker, the Chaldeans at Pergamos “plotted against the peace of the Persian empire, caballing with the Greeks for that purpose. They brought forward Alexander as a divine incarnation, and by their craft did as much as the Greeks by their prowess to overthrow the Persian power.” It is an interesting indication that the Chaldeans did not cease from wielding politico-religious influence, injecting their presence into the next world empire. Significantly, and perhaps in gratitude, Alexander planned to restore Babylon to its greatness, intending to make it his capital. His death there in 323 B.C. from fever prevented the fulfillment of his dream.
I also am busy updating the look and feel of the site, fixing typos, navigation errors, and anything else that needs work. If you see anything that you think needs fixing or could benefit from your input, please don't hesitate to write.
All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. -- Proverbs 8:8-9
Got an email from a reader who told me her 16 year old sister produced a YouTube video on the Bible Wheel for a high school geometry project. She did an excellent job. Praise God for the beauty and simplicity of His Holy Word! Here is the link to the video .
Uploaded Spoke 9 articles from the Bible Wheel book
Tet: The Goodness of God: This article establishes the primary symbolic meaning of Tet, the Ninth Letter.
The Ninth Commandment: One of the greatest miracles of the Bible Wheel is the revelation of God's supernatural integration of the structure of Scripture with the order of the Ten Commandments.
1 Samuel: A Taste of Honey: This article documents another astounding Alphabetic KeyLink between Book 9 and an Alphabetic Verse corresponding to the Ninth Letter Tet.
Obadiah: Death to the Flesh!: Obadiah would never have been written if Saul had obeyed God and destroyed the Amalekites in 1 Samuel. The thematic correlaion between these two geometrically aligned books is astounding to behold.
Subject: Re: [wheelofgod] Revelation 13 and Isaiah 57
Of course, for those who are not completely familiar with the meanings of the Hebrew alphabet, we should also remind them that Mem means Mayim (Water) and this relates to the word for Sea (Yam) and the KeyWord Mabul (Flood). Indeed, water (mayim) is from the sea (m'yam). See Spoke 13 in the Bible Wheel book.
But coming back to interpretation, the bible interpretes itself:
Revelation 13 1And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
(I wonder if the sea has any connection to the verses of the previous chater:
Revelation 12 15And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
I still wonder is the woman Israel? or the members of the New Jerusalem since Sarah was likened unto the heavenly or new Jerusalem and Isaac was persecuted by Ishmael in Galatians 4. and/or the Church?)
Isaiah 57 (13 + 22 + 22) 20But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

Until today the book of Revelation is hard to be understood (probably the most difficult book to read). Sects like the Jehovah's Witnesses have jumped into interpreting things. If they had read properly they might find out that the Watchtower's teachings are misinterpretations. While they blame the Whore of Babylon to be the Catholic Church of Revelation 17 and 18. It's true that in the middle ages the church had power in Europe, today according to my interpretation it's the Jews' influence. The Jewish/Zionist bankers are the commercial aspect of Babylon spoken against in Revelation 18. Revelation 17 mentions the seven heads upon which the woman sits being 7 mountains... which is Jerusalem and it will reign over the kings of the earth. There is talk that Jerusalem should be the capital of the world and unification of world religions heaquartered there. One thing Jews in power hate the most is truth and the King of truth, Jesus Christ. They would persecute and shed blood because of their greed.
But coming back to interpretation, the bible interpretes itself:

Isaiah 13 and 35 have contrasting events (13 + 22 = 35) using similar words:
Isaiah 13
Isaiah 35
19And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
2It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.
7Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
3Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. 4Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
21But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.
1The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose…
6Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
Looking for horse chariot Psalms 20 7Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Deuteronomy 20 1When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
1 Kings 20 1And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots; and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.
21And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.
Alphabetic Integration with the History of David's Kingdom: This article explains how the middle letters of the Hebrew alphabet - which correspond to the Books of the Kings - actually spell the word "malki" meaning "my king" or "king of" so we see that the pattern of the Hebrew alphabet describes the content of the Books of the Bible.
Aleph Tav: The Key to the Kingdoms: This article explores the symmetric structure of the last 4300 hundred years of Judeo-Christian history and its integration with the Hebrew Alphabet and the Bible Wheel.
[Spoke 11] > 1 Kings: Wings of Glory These two articles discuss the obvious connect-ions between the central theme of 1 Kings and the fundamental Kaph KeyWords kissei (throne) and kavod (glory).
[Spoke 21] > Ecclesiastes & John: Where is the Sun?: God designed the Book of Ecclesiastes as the converse of John's Gospel to complete its message by presenting the polar opposite of its central thesis. In these two books God contrasts the natural light of this world with the true Spiritual Light of the World.
I am very pleased to announce that Anne McEwen's new book Pocket Tools in Assisted Living is now available from her website www.FrogsToday.org (The acronym F.R.O.G. stands for Fully Relying On God).
From the back matter:
Who can benefit from reading Pocket Tools?
Families with members diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, dementia, and other debilitating diseases of the mind and body
Families dealing with the reality of the disease and its unforgiving advance
Care-givers involved in dementia care (home care and those in assisted living, residential care)
Facility administrators and staff
Ministers, caring workers involved in ministry to the elderly and their families
Social workers assisting families stricken with Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders
Health care professionals
Pocket Tools is different than your average weighty technical book on Alzheimer's:
It demonstrates the realities of Alzheimer's Disease and dementia without drowning in heavy words. 'Techno speak' has its place, but that place does not involve the heart and soul of the afflicted person.
It endeavors to help the reader touch the spirit of the Alzheimer's victim.
It emphasizes the fact that, although the dear one you knew as Mom, Dad, or Granddad seems to be gone, they are still in there, desperately wanting you to find them.
Both Ezra and Haggai were among the people returning to Israel, their promised land at the same time. Spoke 15, which is the 15th book from Genesis, and the 15th from Isaiah open that theme ( of returning to the land ). Both of the verses below talk about the comparison of the House of the Lord to what it was before the captivity. So we have a thematic link.
The King James Bible has 2 verses matching who+house + eyes + first.
Ezra 3:12 But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the firsthouse, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
Haggai 2:3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

This is a great project you got going. Too much for me to say right now, but here are a couple quick observations:
Ps 119:1 opens with Ashrei Tamimi-derek = Blessed are the perfect (undefiled) in the way. The first two words therefore form the acronym Aleph Tav, which prefigures the alphabetic structure of the whole Psalm!
Note also that the perfect in Gen 17:1 and the "undefiled in Ps 119:1 are translations of the Tav KeyWord "tamim" .
The Spoke 20 connection based on "far from the wicked" is very powerful. It is a KeyLink, in both English and Hebrew, and the keylink is based first on the Resh KeyWord rachoq (far) and secondly on resha (wicked). Excellent find!

Hebrews 12
25See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29For our God is a consuming fire.
