U8TV, a joint-venture between Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting Inc. and TVForReal.com, is an Internet TV station that broadcasts information and lifestyle programming along with real-life drama based on the lives of eight people living, working and playing together under one roof in a downtown Toronto loft.
Selected from thousands of applicants, the eight "Lofters" host original shows covering the worlds of Love, Life, News and Entertainment.

Their own lives are under the camera's lens 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And that's not all: the Loft is a completely wired, interactive digital environment allowing the audience to tune in and participate in every move the Lofters make, inside the Loft and out.

This season, viewers have the power to determine cast changes on U8TV: The Lofters.
An element of competition has been added into the Loft, ensuring that the real-life stories on U8TV stay honest and fresh and the Lofters' hosting performances sharp. U8TV's viewers are now even more involved, actively shaping the cast.

Every ten weeks starting January 7, the eight Lofters will be given performance reviews by U8TV, during which they will be assessed on a number of criteria, including: openness and honesty in sharing life stories; hosting skills; and professionalism.

After the performance reviews, two Lofters will be placed on Replacement Status by U8TV. For a period of four days following, a viewer vote will be held on the U8TV web site to determine which of the two will be voted out of the Loft. Once the final vote is calculated, the Lofter on Replacement Status with the most votes will be asked to leave by the next day. A new Lofter, chosen from the U8TV Farm Team, will move into the Loft the following day.
